[佛陀]住在舍卫城......"比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声是可怕的...为了证悟。比丘们,就像被涂毒的箭射中一样,让利养、恭敬和名声不要降临到尚未达到目标的学人身上。"
"比丘们,'箭'是利养、恭敬和名声的代称。比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声确实如此可怕...比丘们,你们应当如此修学。"
8 豺狼经
[佛陀]住在舍卫城......"比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声是可怕的...比丘们,你们有没有听到深夜时分老豺狼的嚎叫?""是的,世尊。""比丘们,那只老豺狼患了一种叫做疥癣的病,它既不安于洞中,不安于树下,也不安于露地;无论它去到哪里,站在哪里,坐在哪里,躺在哪里,都会遭遇不幸和灾难。同样地,比丘们,某些比丘被利养、恭敬和名声所征服,心被占据,既不安于空屋,不安于树下,也不安于露地;无论他去到哪里,站在哪里,坐在哪里,躺在哪里,都会遭遇不幸和灾难。比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声确实如此可怕...比丘们,你们应当如此修学。"
9 旋风经
[佛陀]住在舍卫城......"比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声是可怕的...在高空中,有名为'旋风'的强风吹拂。若有鸟飞到那里,会被旋风吹散,被风吹散的鸟,脚往一处飞,翅膀往另一处飞,头往一处飞,身体往另一处飞。同样地,比丘们,某些比丘被利养、恭敬和名声所征服,心被占据,清晨着衣持钵,进入村落或城镇托钵,不护身、不护语、不护心,失念现前,诸根不摄。他在那里看见衣着不整的女人。看见衣着不整的女人后,贪欲扰乱其心。心为贪欲所扰,他放弃学处而还俗。有人拿走他的衣服,有人拿走他的钵,有人拿走他的坐具,有人拿走他的针袋,就像那被旋风吹散的鸟一样。比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声确实如此可怕...比丘们,你们应当如此修学。"
10 有偈经
[佛陀]住在舍卫城......"比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声是可怕的...比丘们,我在此见到某些人被恭敬所征服,心被占据,身坏命终后,堕入恶道、苦趣、堕处、地狱。比丘们,我又见到某些人被轻视所征服,心被占据,身坏命终后,堕入恶道、苦趣、堕处、地狱。比丘们,我又见到某些人同时被恭敬和轻视两者所征服,心被占据,身坏命终后,堕入恶道、苦趣、堕处、地狱。比丘们,利养、恭敬和名声确实如此可怕...比丘们,你们应当如此修学。"
世尊说此语已。善逝说此后,导师又说此偈:
"无论受到恭敬,或是遭受轻视,
心住无量定,两者不能动。
精进常修禅,善观微妙法,
乐于灭执取,是谓真善士。"

Tassa verambhavātakkhittassa aññeneva pādā gacchanti, aññena pakkhā gacchanti, aññena sīsaṃ gacchati, aññena kāyo gacchati.
