34 纯粹苦经
佛陀住在舍卫城......"比丘们,如果地界是纯粹的苦,被苦所追随,被苦所包围,没有丝毫快乐,众生就不会对地界产生贪爱。比丘们,正是因为地界有乐,被乐所追随,被乐所包围,没有丝毫痛苦,所以众生对地界产生贪爱。"
"比丘们,如果水界...火界...风界是纯粹的苦,被苦所追随,被苦所包围,没有丝毫快乐,众生就不会对风界产生贪爱。比丘们,正是因为风界有乐,被乐所追随,被乐所包围,没有丝毫痛苦,所以众生对风界产生贪爱。"

36 生起经
佛陀住在舍卫城......"比丘们,地界的生起、持续、出现、显现,就是苦的生起,疾病的持续,老死的显现。水界...火界...风界的生起、持续、出现、显现,就是苦的生起,疾病的持续,老死的显现。"
"比丘们,地界的灭尽、平息、消失,就是苦的灭尽,疾病的平息,老死的消失。水界...火界...风界的灭尽、平息、消失,就是苦的灭尽,疾病的平息,老死的消失。"
37 沙门婆罗门经
佛陀住在舍卫城......"比丘们,有这四种界。哪四种?地界、水界、火界、风界。比丘们,任何沙门或婆罗门不如实了知这四界的味、患、离,我说他们不是真正的沙门或婆罗门,也不能在现世中通过自己的智慧证得沙门果或婆罗门果。"
"比丘们,任何沙门或婆罗门如实了知这四界的味、患、离,我说他们是真正的沙门和婆罗门,能在现世中通过自己的智慧证得沙门果和婆罗门果。"
38 第二沙门婆罗门经
佛陀住在舍卫城......"比丘们,有这四种界。哪四种?地界、水界、火界、风界。比丘们,任何沙门或婆罗门不如实了知这四界的集、灭、味、患、离...如实了知...通过自己的智慧证得并安住。"
39 第三沙门婆罗门经
佛陀住在舍卫城......"比丘们,任何沙门或婆罗门不了知地界,不了知地界的集,不了知地界的灭,不了知导向地界灭的道路...不了知水界...不了知火界...不了知风界,不了知风界的集,不了知风界的灭,不了知导向风界灭的道路,我说他们不是真正的沙门或婆罗门,也不能在现世中通过自己的智慧证得沙门果或婆罗门果。"

Yasmā ca kho, bhikkhave, pathavīdhātu sukhā sukhānupatitā sukhāvakkantā anavakkantā dukkhena, tasmā sattā pathavīdhātuyā sārajjanti”.
“Āpodhātu ce hidaṃ, bhikkhave …pe… tejodhātu ce hidaṃ, bhikkhave… vāyodhātu ce hidaṃ, bhikkhave, ekantadukkhā abhavissa dukkhānupatitā dukkhāvakkantā anavakkantā sukhena, nayidaṃ sattā vāyodhātuyā sārajjeyyuṃ. Ye hi keci, bhikkhave, samaṇā vā brāhmaṇā vā imāsaṃ catunnaṃ dhātūnaṃ assādañca ādīnavañca nissaraṇañca yathābhūtaṃ nappajānanti, na me te, bhikkhave, samaṇā vā brāhmaṇā vā samaṇesu vā samaṇasammatā brāhmaṇesu vā brāhmaṇasammatā; na ca pana te āyasmanto sāmaññatthaṃ vā brahmaññatthaṃ vā diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharanti”.
