7 欲经
"比丘们,大多数众生都沉溺于欲乐。比丘们,当良家子舍弃镰刀和扁担,从在家出家为无家者时,可以称之为'因信仰而出家的良家子'。这是什么原因呢?比丘们,年轻时可以获得欲乐,无论是何种欲乐。比丘们,无论是低级的欲乐、中等的欲乐还是高级的欲乐,一切欲乐都被称为'欲'。
比如说,比丘们,一个年幼无知的婴儿仰卧着,由于保姆的疏忽,把木片或石子放入口中。保姆应当立即注意到;注意到后应当立即取出。如果不能立即取出,就应该用左手托住头,用右手弯曲手指,即使出血也要取出。这是什么原因呢?比丘们,这确实会使婴儿受苦,我并不否认这点。但是,比丘们,这是保姆出于慈爱、为了利益、怜悯而必须要做的事。当那婴儿长大有了智慧,保姆就不再关心那孩子了,想着:'这孩子现在能自我保护了,不会再疏忽了。'
同样地,比丘们,只要比丘在善法上还未建立信心,未建立惭愧心,未建立畏惧心,未建立精进,未建立智慧,我就必须要保护这位比丘。但是,比丘们,当比丘在善法上已经建立了信心,建立了惭愧心,建立了畏惧心,建立了精进,建立了智慧,我就不再关心这位比丘了,因为:'这比丘现在能自我保护了,不会再疏忽了。'"
8 退失经
"比丘们,具足五法的比丘会退失,不能安住于正法。是哪五法呢?比丘们,不信的比丘会退失,不能安住于正法。无惭的比丘会退失,不能安住于正法。无愧的比丘会退失,不能安住于正法。懈怠的比丘会退失,不能安住于正法。愚钝的比丘会退失,不能安住于正法。比丘们,具足这五法的比丘会退失,不能安住于正法。
比丘们,具足五法的比丘不会退失,能安住于正法。是哪五法呢?比丘们,有信的比丘不会退失,能安住于正法。有惭的比丘不会退失,能安住于正法。有愧的比丘不会退失,能安住于正法。精进的比丘不会退失,能安住于正法。有慧的比丘不会退失,能安住于正法。比丘们,具足这五法的比丘不会退失,能安住于正法。"
9 第一不恭敬经
"比丘们,具足五法的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,会退失,不能安住于正法。是哪五法呢?比丘们,不信的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,会退失,不能安住于正法。无惭的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,会退失,不能安住于正法。无愧的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,会退失,不能安住于正法。懈怠的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,会退失,不能安住于正法。愚钝的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,会退失,不能安住于正法。比丘们,具足这五法的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,会退失,不能安住于正法。

"比丘们,具足五法的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,不能在此法律中获得增长、发展、广大。是哪五法呢?比丘们,不信的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,不能在此法律中获得增长、发展、广大。无惭的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,不能在此法律中获得增长、发展、广大。无愧的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,不能在此法律中获得增长、发展、广大。懈怠的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,不能在此法律中获得增长、发展、广大。愚钝的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,不能在此法律中获得增长、发展、广大。比丘们,具足这五法的比丘不恭敬、不顺从,不能在此法律中获得增长、发展、广大。

7. “Yebhuyyena, bhikkhave, sattā kāmesu laḷitā. Asitabyābhaṅgiṃ, bhikkhave, kulaputto ohāya agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajito hoti, ‘saddhāpabbajito kulaputto’ti alaṃ vacanāya. Taṃ kissa hetu? Labbhā, bhikkhave, yobbanena kāmā te ca kho yādisā vā tādisā vā. Ye ca, bhikkhave, hīnā kāmā ye ca majjhimā kāmā ye ca paṇītā kāmā sabbe kāmā ‘kāmā’tveva saṅkhaṃ gacchanti. Seyyathāpi bhikkhave, daharo kumāro mando uttānaseyyako dhātiyā pamādamanvāya kaṭṭhaṃ vā kaṭhalaṃ vā mukhe āhareyya.
