1 指甲尖上的尘土经
我是这样听说的:有一次,世尊住在舍卫城祇树给孤独园。那时,世尊用指甲尖挑起一点尘土,对比丘们说:"比丘们,你们认为哪个更多?是我指甲尖上的这点尘土,还是这大地?"
"大德,当然是大地更多。世尊指甲尖上的尘土极其微小。与大地相比,它连百分之一、千分之一、十万分之一都不到。"
"同样地,比丘们,对于已经证悟的圣弟子来说,已经灭尽的苦远远多于剩余的苦。剩余的苦极其微小,不及已灭尽之苦的百分之一、千分之一、十万分之一,最多只有七次往返(人天)。比丘们,法的证悟如此重要,获得法眼如此重要。"
2 莲池经
世尊住在舍卫城...(略)..."比丘们,假设有一个长宽高各五十由旬的莲池,水满到边缘,乌鸦可以饮用。有人用草尖从中取水。比丘们,你们认为哪个更多?是草尖上的水,还是莲池里的水?"
"大德,当然是莲池里的水更多。草尖上的水极其微小。与莲池里的水相比,它连百分之一、千分之一、十万分之一都不到。"
"同样地,比丘们,对于已经证悟的圣弟子来说...(如前)...获得法眼如此重要。"
3 汇流水经
世尊住在舍卫城...(略)..."比丘们,假设在恒河、耶牟那河、阿致罗筏底河、萨罗浮河、摩希河这些大河汇流的地方,有人取出两三滴水。比丘们,你们认为哪个更多?是那两三滴水,还是汇流处的水?"
"大德,当然是汇流处的水更多。那两三滴水极其微小。与汇流处的水相比,它连百分之一、千分之一、十万分之一都不到。"
"同样地,比丘们...(如前)...获得法眼如此重要。"
4 第二汇流水经
世尊住在舍卫城...(略)..."比丘们,假设在恒河、耶牟那河、阿致罗筏底河、萨罗浮河、摩希河这些大河汇流的地方,水都干涸了,只剩下两三滴水。比丘们,你们认为哪个更多?是已经干涸的汇流处的水,还是剩下的两三滴水?"
"大德,当然是已经干涸的汇流处的水更多。剩下的两三滴水极其微小。与已干涸的水相比,它连百分之一、千分之一、十万分之一都不到。"

5 大地经
世尊住在舍卫城...(略)..."比丘们,假设有人在大地上放置七颗豆子大小的泥球。比丘们,你们认为哪个更大?是那七颗泥球,还是这大地?"
"大德,当然是大地更大。那七颗泥球极其微小。与大地相比,它们连百分之一、千分之一、十万分之一都不到。"
"同样地,比丘们...(如前)...获得法眼如此重要。"
6 第二大地经
世尊住在舍卫城...(略)..."比丘们,假设大地都消失了,只剩下七颗豆子大小的泥球。比丘们,你们认为哪个更多?是已经消失的大地,还是剩下的七颗泥球?"
"大德,当然是已经消失的大地更多。剩下的七颗泥球极其微小。与已消失的大地相比,它们连百分之一、千分之一、十万分之一都不到。"
"同样地,比丘们...(如前)...获得法眼如此重要。"
