如是我闻:一时,世尊与大比丘僧团约五百人一起在摩罗国游行,来到摩罗人的城市波婆。在那里,世尊住在锻冶师纯陀的芒果林中。
当时,波婆城的摩罗人刚刚建造了一座新的集会堂,名叫乌跋多迦,尚未有任何沙门、婆罗门或其他人居住过。波婆城的摩罗人听说:"世尊正与大比丘僧团约五百人在摩罗国游行,已到达波婆,住在锻冶师纯陀的芒果林中。"于是他们来到世尊处。到达后,向世尊礼拜,然后坐在一旁。坐好后,波婆城的摩罗人对世尊说:"尊者,这里有一座新建的集会堂,名叫乌跋多迦,尚未有任何沙门、婆罗门或其他人居住过。请世尊首先使用它吧。世尊首先使用后,波婆城的摩罗人才会使用。这将给波婆城的摩罗人带来长久的利益和快乐。"世尊以沉默表示同意。
波婆城的摩罗人知道世尊同意后,从座位上起身,向世尊礼拜,右绕后离去,前往集会堂。他们用各种地毯和地垫铺满整个集会堂,准备好座位,放置好水罐,挂上油灯,然后回到世尊处。到达后,向世尊礼拜,站在一旁。站好后对世尊说:"尊者,集会堂已全部铺设好,座位已准备好,水罐已放置好,油灯已点燃。请世尊自行决定时间。"
于是世尊穿好衣服,拿起衣钵,与比丘僧团一起前往集会堂。到达后,洗净双脚,进入集会堂,靠着中央的柱子面向东方坐下。比丘僧团也洗净双脚,进入集会堂,靠着西墙面向东方坐下,以世尊为首。波婆城的摩罗人也洗净双脚,进入集会堂,靠着东墙面向西方坐下,以世尊为首。
于是世尊整夜为波婆城的摩罗人讲说佛法,开示、教导、鼓励、欢喜他们。然后对他们说:"婆谢特们,夜已深了,你们认为适当的时候就可以离开了。"波婆城的摩罗人应答说:"是的,尊者。"然后从座位上起身,向世尊礼拜,右绕后离去。
波婆城的摩罗人离去不久,世尊环顾沉默不语的比丘僧团,对尊者舍利弗说:"舍利弗,比丘僧团已经没有昏沉睡眠了。舍利弗,你为比丘们说法吧。我背痛了,要躺下休息一会儿。"尊者舍利弗回答说:"是的,世尊。"世尊于是把大衣折叠四层铺好,右胁而卧,两脚相叠,具念正知,作意醒觉想。
当时,尼乾陀若提子刚刚在波婆去世。他去世后,尼乾陀教徒分裂成两派,陷入争论、争吵、纷争,以言语互相攻击:"你不了解这法与律,我了解这法与律。你怎么能了解这法与律呢?你行道错误,我行道正确。我的主张有条理,你的主张没有条理。应该先说的反而后说,应该后说的反而先说。你的论点已被驳倒了,你已被难倒了,去设法挽救你的论点吧,如果做得到的话就来反驳我吧!"他们之间似乎正处于互相残杀的状态。甚至那些身穿白衣的尼乾陀在家弟子们,也对尼乾陀教徒感到厌倦、不满、反感,因为这法与律被讲说得如此糟糕、被宣说得如此拙劣,不能引导人、不能令人得到安宁,非正等觉者所说,教团支离破碎,没有依靠。
然后尊者舍利弗对比丘们说:"朋友们,尼乾陀若提子刚刚在波婆去世。他去世后,尼乾陀教徒分裂成两派......教团支离破碎,没有依靠。朋友们,这就是法与律被讲说得糟糕、被宣说得拙劣时的情况,不能引导人、不能令人得到安宁,非正等觉者所说。然而,朋友们,我们的世尊已善说法,善宣说法,能引导人、能令人得到安宁,正等觉者所说。在这里,我们大家应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。
朋友们,世尊已善说法,善宣说法,能引导人、能令人得到安乐,正等觉者所说。在这里,我们大家应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。那么,这些法是什么呢?
【一法】
朋友们,有一法为那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。什么是一法?
一切众生依食而住。一切众生依行而住。
朋友们,这就是那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说的一法。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。
【二法】
朋友们,有二法为那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。什么是二法?
名与色。
无明与有爱。
有见与无有见。
无惭与无愧。
惭与愧。
恶语与恶友。
善语与善友。
善巧于犯戒与善巧于出罪。
善巧于入定与善巧于出定。
善巧于界与善巧于作意。
善巧于处与善巧于缘起。
善巧于处与善巧于非处。
正直与柔和。
忍辱与温和。
友善与亲切。
无害与清净。
失念与不正知。
念与正知。
诸根不防护与饮食不知量。
诸根防护与饮食知量。
思择力与修习力。
念力与定力。
止与观。
止相与精进相。
精进与不散乱。
戒失败与见失败。
戒具足与见具足。
戒清净与见清净。
见清净与如实知见而精进。
对可厌恶事物的厌恶感与对厌恶事物如理精进。
对善法不知足与精进不退缩。
明与解脱。
尽智与无生智。
朋友们,这就是那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说的二法。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。
【三法】
朋友们,有三法为那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。什么是三法?
三不善根:贪不善根、嗔不善根、痴不善根。
三善根:无贪善根、无嗔善根、无痴善根。
三种恶行:身恶行、语恶行、意恶行。
三种善行:身善行、语善行、意善行。
三种不善寻:欲寻、嗔寻、害寻。
三种善寻:出离寻、无嗔寻、无害寻。
三种不善思:欲思、嗔思、害思。
三种善思:出离思、无嗔思、无害思。
三种不善想:欲想、嗔想、害想。
三种善想:出离想、无嗔想、无害想。
三种不善界:欲界、嗔界、害界。
三种善界:出离界、无嗔界、无害界。
另外三界:欲界、色界、无色界。
另外三界:色界、无色界、灭界。
另外三界:下界、中界、上界。
三种爱:欲爱、有爱、无有爱。
另外三种爱:欲爱、色爱、无色爱。
另外三种爱:色爱、无色爱、灭爱。
三种结:身见、疑、戒禁取。
三种漏:欲漏、有漏、无明漏。
三有:欲有、色有、无色有。
三求:欲求、有求、梵行求。
三种慢:胜慢、等慢、劣慢。
三时:过去时、未来时、现在时。
三边:有身是一边,有身集是一边,有身灭是一边。
三受:乐受、苦受、不苦不乐受。
三苦性:苦苦性、行苦性、坏苦性。
三聚:邪定聚、正定聚、不定聚。
三暗:对过去疑惑、犹豫、不确信、不清净;对未来疑惑、犹豫、不确信、不清净;对现在疑惑、犹豫、不确信、不清净。
如来的三无需防护:朋友们,如来的身行是清净的,没有任何身恶行需要防护,担心"不要让别人知道这个"。如来的语行是清净的,没有任何语恶行需要防护,担心"不要让别人知道这个"。如来的意行是清净的,没有任何意恶行需要防护,担心"不要让别人知道这个"。
三种执着:贪执着、嗔执着、痴执着。
三火:贪火、嗔火、痴火。
另外三火:应供养者的火、家主的火、应施者的火。
三种色分类:可见有对色、不可见有对色、不可见无对色。
三行:福行、非福行、不动行。
三种人:有学人、无学人、非有学非无学人。
三长老:生年长老、法腊长老、公认的长老。
三种功德基:布施为功德基、持戒为功德基、修习为功德基。
三种诘问事:以见、闻、疑为根据的诘问。
三种欲生:朋友们,有众生对现存的欲乐起欲,如人类、某些天神和某些堕处众生。这是第一种欲生。有众生自己变化欲乐,如化乐天。这是第二种欲生。有众生享受他人所变化的欲乐,如他化自在天。这是第三种欲生。
三种乐生:朋友们,有众生不断地生起乐,安住于乐中,如梵众天。这是第一种乐生。有众生充满、遍满、圆满、遍布于乐,他们偶尔发出欢喜的感叹:"啊,多么快乐!啊,多么快乐!"如光音天。这是第二种乐生。有众生充满、遍满、圆满、遍布于乐,他们寂静地、满足地感受乐,如遍净天。这是第三种乐生。
三种慧:有学慧、无学慧、非有学非无学慧。
另外三种慧:思所成慧、闻所成慧、修所成慧。
三种武器:闻的武器、远离的武器、智慧的武器。
三根:未知当知根、已知根、具知根。
三眼:肉眼、天眼、慧眼。
三学:增上戒学、增上心学、增上慧学。
三种修习:身修习、心修习、慧修习。
三无上:见无上、行道无上、解脱无上。
三种定:有寻有伺定、无寻唯伺定、无寻无伺定。
另外三种定:空定、无相定、无愿定。
三清净:身清净、语清净、意清净。
三种沙门所行:增上戒学所行、增上心学所行、增上慧学所行。
三种神通:神变神通、他心神通、教诫神通。
三种见:我见、我所见、慢见。
三种圣谛:苦圣谛、苦集圣谛、苦灭圣谛。
三种明:宿命明、死生明、漏尽明。
三种天:假天、生天、净天。
三种乐:人间乐、天上乐、涅槃乐。
三种善巧:善巧于进步、善巧于退步、善巧于方便。
三种狂傲:我比他好的狂傲、我与他相等的狂傲、我比他差的狂傲。
三种上:自我感觉上、世间上、法上。
三种论:我论、他论、正论。
三种智:有学智、无学智、非有学非无学智。
另外三种智:思所成智、闻所成智、修所成智。
三种武器:闻的武器、远离的武器、智慧的武器。
三种受:乐受、苦受、不苦不乐受。
三种苦:苦苦、行苦、坏苦。
三种积聚:戒蕴、定蕴、慧蕴。
三种难断:贪难断、嗔难断、痴难断。
三种漏:欲漏、有漏、无明漏。
三种轭:欲轭、有轭、无明轭。
三种不善根:贪不善根、嗔不善根、痴不善根。
三种火:贪火、嗔火、痴火。
三种寻求:欲寻求、有寻求、梵行寻求。
朋友们,这就是那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说的三法。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。
【四法】
朋友们,有四法为那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。什么是四法?
四念处:在此,比丘以热忱、正知、正念,远离世间的贪欲和忧恼,观身而住,观受而住,观心而住,观法而住。
四正勤:在此,比丘生起意欲,精进,发奋,策励心,为了未生起的恶不善法不生起;为了已生起的恶不善法断除;为了未生起的善法生起;为了已生起的善法住立、不忘失、增长、广大、修习、圆满。
四神足:在此,比丘修习欲神足,具足欲定勤行;修习勤神足,具足勤定勤行;修习心神足,具足心定勤行;修习观神足,具足观定勤行。
四禅:在此,比丘远离欲乐,远离不善法,有寻有伺,离生喜乐,成就并住于初禅。寻伺寂静,内心安稳,心专一境,无寻无伺,定生喜乐,成就并住于第二禅。离喜,住于舍,正念正知,以身感受乐,圣者说这是"舍、具念、乐住",成就并住于第三禅。断乐断苦,先前的喜忧已灭,不苦不乐,舍念清净,成就并住于第四禅。
四修习定:朋友们,有修习定能导致现法乐住;有修习定能导致获得知见;有修习定能导致正念正知;有修习定能导致诸漏灭尽。
什么是修习定能导致现法乐住?在此,比丘远离欲乐,远离不善法,有寻有伺,离生喜乐,成就并住于初禅......成就并住于第四禅。这就是修习定能导致现法乐住。
什么是修习定能导致获得知见?在此,比丘作意光明想,确立白昼想,如白昼般,如夜晚般,如夜晚般,如白昼般。以这样开放、清净、明亮的心修习定。这就是修习定能导致获得知见。
什么是修习定能导致正念正知?在此,比丘了知受的生起,了知受的住立,了知受的消失;了知想的生起,了知想的住立,了知想的消失;了知寻的生起,了知寻的住立,了知寻的消失。这就是修习定能导致正念正知。
什么是修习定能导致诸漏灭尽?在此,比丘安住于观五取蕴的生灭:"这是色,这是色的生起,这是色的消失;这是受......这是想......这是行......这是识,这是识的生起,这是识的消失。"这就是修习定能导致诸漏灭尽。
四无量:在此,比丘以慈俱心遍满一方而住,如是二方、三方、四方,上下、四维,普遍、无结、无怨、无害、广大、无量地遍满一切世间而住。以悲俱心......以喜俱心......以舍俱心遍满一方而住,如是二方、三方、四方,上下、四维,普遍、无结、无怨、无害、广大、无量地遍满一切世间而住。
四无色:在此,比丘超越一切色想,灭有对想,不作意种种想,成就并住于"虚空无边处"。超越一切虚空无边处,成就并住于"识无边处"。超越一切识无边处,成就并住于"无所有处"。超越一切无所有处,成就并住于"非想非非想处"。
四依:在此,比丘审察后依止一事,审察后忍受一事,审察后远离一事,审察后除遣一事。
四圣种:在此,比丘以任何衣服知足,赞叹衣服知足,不为衣服而作不正当、不适宜之事。若不得衣服,不忧悲、不号哭、不捶胸、不迷乱。若得衣服,则不耽著、不迷醉、不堕过。见到过患,有出离慧而受用。以任何乞食......以任何坐卧处......以任何医药资具知足,赞叹医药资具知足,不为医药资具而作不正当、不适宜之事。若不得医药资具,不忧悲、不号哭、不捶胸、不迷乱。若得医药资具,则不耽著、不迷醉、不堕过。见到过患,有出离慧而受用。

四摄事:布施、爱语、利行、同事。

四非圣行:杀生、不与取、欲邪行、妄语。
四圣行:离杀生、离不与取、离欲邪行、离妄语。
另外四非圣行:妄语、两舌、恶口、绮语。
另外四圣行:离妄语、离两舌、离恶口、离绮语。
四种人:有人自苦自烦恼;有人害他,令他苦恼;有人自苦自烦恼,也害他,令他苦恼;有人既不自苦自烦恼,也不害他,不令他苦恼。这种人既不自苦自烦恼,也不害他,不令他苦恼,于现法中无渴爱、寂灭、清凉、感受乐,以最胜的自我而住。
另外四种人:有人自利而不利他;有人利他而不自利;有人既不自利也不利他;有人既自利又利他。
四轭:欲轭、有轭、见轭、无明轭。
四离轭:离欲轭、离有轭、离见轭、离无明轭。
四系:贪身系、嗔身系、戒禁取身系、此实执取身系。
四取:欲取、见取、戒禁取、我语取。
四生:卵生、胎生、湿生、化生。
四入母胎:有的无知入母胎,无知住胎,无知出胎;有的有知入母胎,无知住胎,无知出胎;有的有知入母胎,有知住胎,无知出胎;有的有知入母胎,有知住胎,有知出胎。
四种获得自体:有的获得自体是自己的意志所致,不是他人的意志所致;有的获得自体是他人的意志所致,不是自己的意志所致;有的获得自体既是自己的意志所致,也是他人的意志所致;有的获得自体既不是自己的意志所致,也不是他人的意志所致。
四种布施清净:有布施为施者所清净,不为受者所清净;有布施为受者所清净,不为施者所清净;有布施既不为施者所清净,也不为受者所清净;有布施既为施者所清净,也为受者所清净。
四种摄众:布施、爱语、利行、同事。
四种说法不净:贪染说法、嗔恚说法、愚痴说法、恐惧说法。
四种业:有黑报的黑业;有白报的白业;有黑白报的黑白业;既非黑也非白报的非黑非白业,能导致业尽。
四种入法:离贪入法、离嗔入法、正念入法、正定入法。
四种安住:安住于戒、安住于定、安住于慧、安住于解脱。
四种福德增长事:安住于戒、安住于定、安住于慧、安住于解脱。
四种无后悔法:离贪而住、离嗔而住、正念而住、正定而住。
四种念处:在此,比丘以热忱、正知、正念,远离世间的贪欲和忧恼,观身而住,观受而住,观心而住,观法而住。
四圣谛:苦圣谛、苦集圣谛、苦灭圣谛、导致苦灭的道圣谛。
四沙门果:须陀洹果、斯陀含果、阿那含果、阿罗汉果。
四界:地界、水界、火界、风界。
四食:段食或粗食、触食、意思食、识食。
四识住:朋友们,因色而有识住,缘色而住,依色而生,以乐为食而增长、广大。因受......因想......因行而有识住,缘行而住,依行而生,以乐为食而增长、广大。
四邪行:贪欲邪行、嗔恚邪行、恐惧邪行、愚痴邪行。
四正行:离贪欲邪行、离嗔恚邪行、离恐惧邪行、离愚痴邪行。
四圣言:不见言不见、不闻言不闻、不觉言不觉、不知言不知。
四轮:住适宜处、依止善人、自己立志、宿世福德。
四无碍解:义无碍解、法无碍解、词无碍解、辩无碍解。
四种取:欲取、见取、戒禁取、我语取。
四种系缚:贪身系、嗔身系、戒禁取身系、此实执取身系。
四种退处:退失于信、退失于戒、退失于闻、退失于慧。
四种增上:信增上、精进增上、念增上、定增上。
四种定:有退分定、有住分定、有胜进分定、有决择分定。
四种问答:一向记、分别记、反诘记、舍置记。
四种业:有黑报的黑业、有白报的白业、有黑白报的黑白业、既非黑也非白报的非黑非白业,能导致业尽。
四种应证法:以身证应证法、以念证应证法、以眼证应证法、以慧证应证法。
四种力:精进力、念力、定力、慧力。
四种依止:依于观察而依止一事、依于忍受而依止一事、依于远离而依止一事、依于除遣而依止一事。
四种圣种姓:满足于任何衣服、满足于任何食物、满足于任何住处、喜好修习、喜好断除。
四种努力:防护努力、断除努力、修习努力、保护努力。
四种受:欲界受、色界受、无色界受、不系受。
另外四种受:有漏受、无漏受、非漏非无漏受、世间受。
另外四种受:乐受、苦受、喜受、忧受。
四种漏:欲漏、有漏、见漏、无明漏。
四种暴流:欲暴流、有暴流、见暴流、无明暴流。
四种轭:欲轭、有轭、见轭、无明轭。
四种离系:离欲系、离有系、离见系、离无明系。
四种结:贪身结、嗔恚身结、戒禁取身结、此实执取身结。
四种取:欲取、见取、戒禁取、我语取。
四种生:卵生、胎生、湿生、化生。
四种入胎:有的无知入胎,无知住胎,无知出胎;有的有知入胎,无知住胎,无知出胎;有的有知入胎,有知住胎,无知出胎;有的有知入胎,有知住胎,有知出胎。
四种得自体:有的得自体是自己的意志所致,不是他人的意志所致;有的得自体是他人的意志所致,不是自己的意志所致;有的得自体既是自己的意志所致,也是他人的意志所致;有的得自体既不是自己的意志所致,也不是他人的意志所致。
朋友们,这就是那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说的四法。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。
【五法】
朋友们,有五法为那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。什么是五法?
五蕴:色蕴、受蕴、想蕴、行蕴、识蕴。
五取蕴:色取蕴、受取蕴、想取蕴、行取蕴、识取蕴。
五欲功德:眼所识的色,可爱、可乐、可意、可喜、与欲相应、令人染着;耳所识的声......鼻所识的香......舌所识的味......身所识的触,可爱、可乐、可意、可喜、与欲相应、令人染着。
五趣:地狱、畜生、饿鬼、人、天。
五种悭:住处悭、俗家悭、利养悭、称赞悭、法悭。
五盖:欲贪盖、嗔恚盖、昏沉睡眠盖、掉举恶作盖、疑盖。
五下分结:身见、疑、戒禁取、欲贪、嗔恚。
五上分结:色贪、无色贪、慢、掉举、无明。
五学处:离杀生、离不与取、离欲邪行、离妄语、离饮酒。
五不能处:朋友们,不可能有阿罗汉故意夺取生命;不可能有阿罗汉故意偷盗;不可能有阿罗汉行淫欲法;不可能有阿罗汉故意妄语;不可能有阿罗汉贮藏享受欲乐。
五失:亲属失、财物失、疾病失、戒失、见失。朋友们,众生因亲属失、财物失、疾病失,死后不生于苦处、恶趣、堕处、地狱。朋友们,众生因戒失、见失,死后生于苦处、恶趣、堕处、地狱。
五趣:地狱趣、畜生趣、饿鬼趣、人趣、天趣。
五心的吝啬:住处吝啬、俗家吝啬、利养吝啬、美名吝啬、法吝啬。
五障碍:欲贪障碍、嗔恚障碍、昏沉睡眠障碍、掉举恶作障碍、疑障碍。
五敌对:朋友们,杀生者以杀生为缘,于现法中获得敌对、忧悲,于来世获得恶趣之苦。不与取......邪淫......妄语......饮酒者以饮酒为缘,于现法中获得敌对、忧悲,于来世获得恶趣之苦。
五毁坏:亲属毁坏、财物毁坏、疾病毁坏、戒毁坏、见毁坏。朋友们,众生因亲属毁坏、财物毁坏、疾病毁坏,死后不生于苦处、恶趣、堕处、地狱。朋友们,众生因戒毁坏、见毁坏,死后生于苦处、恶趣、堕处、地狱。
五种圆满:亲属圆满、财物圆满、无病圆满、戒圆满、见圆满。朋友们,众生因亲属圆满、财物圆满、无病圆满,死后不生于善趣、天界。朋友们,众生因戒圆满、见圆满,死后生于善趣、天界。
五种对同梵行者的责难:不适时、不实、不利、粗恶语、嗔恚心。
五种对同梵行者的责备:适时、如实、有利、柔和语、慈悲心。
五种观察:观察适宜性而责备、观察真实性而责备、观察利益而责备、观察柔和而责备、观察慈悲而责备。
五种安乐:适意的色、声、香、味、触的安乐。
五种正定支:喜遍满、乐遍满、心遍满、光明遍满、作意相。
五种智:知此是苦,知此是苦集,知此是苦灭,知此是导致苦灭之道,知漏尽。
五正见分:戒律仪、防护诸根、饮食知量、觉寤精勤、正知正念。
五出离界:此处,比丘作意于欲,其心不趣入欲、不信乐、不安住、不决定。但当他作意于出离时,其心趣入出离、信乐、安住、决定。如是,他的心善修习、善出离、善超越、善解脱、善离系于诸欲。对于从欲所生的烦恼、忧悲、苦恼,他从此解脱,不再感受那些感受。这就是所说的从欲的出离。
同样地,(以上所说的)对嗔恚......对害......对色......对有身而言也是如此。
五解脱成熟想:无常想、无常苦想、苦无我想、断想、离贪想。
朋友们,这就是那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说的五法。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。
【六法】
朋友们,有六法为那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。什么是六法?
六内处:眼处、耳处、鼻处、舌处、身处、意处。
六外处:色处、声处、香处、味处、触处、法处。
六识身:眼识、耳识、鼻识、舌识、身识、意识。
六触身:眼触、耳触、鼻触、舌触、身触、意触。
六受身:眼触所生受、耳触所生受、鼻触所生受、舌触所生受、身触所生受、意触所生受。
六想身:色想、声想、香想、味想、触想、法想。
六思身:色思、声思、香思、味思、触思、法思。
六爱身:色爱、声爱、香爱、味爱、触爱、法爱。
六不恭敬:朋友们,于此,比丘对佛陀无恭敬、无顺从而住;对法无恭敬、无顺从而住;对僧伽无恭敬、无顺从而住;对学处无恭敬、无顺从而住;对不放逸无恭敬、无顺从而住;对待客无恭敬、无顺从而住。
六恭敬:朋友们,于此,比丘对佛陀有恭敬、有顺从而住;对法有恭敬、有顺从而住;对僧伽有恭敬、有顺从而住;对学处有恭敬、有顺从而住;对不放逸有恭敬、有顺从而住;对待客有恭敬、有顺从而住。
六喜行:见色而生喜,闻声而生喜,嗅香而生喜,尝味而生喜,触所触而生喜,知法而生喜。
六忧行:见色而生忧,闻声而生忧,嗅香而生忧,尝味而生忧,触所触而生忧,知法而生忧。
六舍行:见色而生舍,闻声而生舍,嗅香而生舍,尝味而生舍,触所触而生舍,知法而生舍。
六和敬法:朋友们,于此,比丘以慈身业对同梵行者,无论公开或私下,皆如是行。这是和敬法,是生爱、生敬、能摄受、无诤、和合、一致的。
又,比丘以慈语业......以慈意业对同梵行者,无论公开或私下,皆如是行。这是和敬法,是生爱、生敬、能摄受、无诤、和合、一致的。
再者,比丘对于如法所得、如法所获,乃至仅得钵中之食,亦与具戒的同梵行者平等分享。这是和敬法,是生爱、生敬、能摄受、无诤、和合、一致的。
复次,比丘对于无缺、无穿、无污、无杂、自在、智者所赞叹、不执取、导向定的诸戒,与具戒的同梵行者共同受持,无论公开或私下,皆如是行。这是和敬法,是生爱、生敬、能摄受、无诤、和合、一致的。
又,比丘对于圣、出离、能令奉行者彻底灭苦的正见,与具此见的同梵行者共同受持,无论公开或私下,皆如是行。这是和敬法,是生爱、生敬、能摄受、无诤、和合、一致的。
六争根:朋友们,于此,比丘易怒、怀恨。比丘若易怒、怀恨,则对导师无恭敬、无顺从而住,对法无恭敬、无顺从而住,对僧团无恭敬、无顺从而住,不圆满学处。比丘对导师、法、僧团无恭敬、无顺从而住,不圆满学处,则在僧团中引起诤论。此诤论导致许多人的不利、不安,导致天神和人类的损害、苦痛。朋友们,若你们见到此等争根在自己或他人内外,你们应当为断除此恶争根而努力。若你们未见此等争根在自己或他人内外,你们应当为防护此恶争根之生起而努力。如是可断除此恶争根,如是可防护此恶争根之未来生起。
(其他五种争根分别是:覆藏、嫉妒、悭吝、狡诈、恶欲邪见。每种争根的解释方式与第一种类似。)
六界:地界、水界、火界、风界、空界、识界。
六出离界:朋友们,于此,比丘作如是说:'我已修习、多修慈心解脱,已令其增长,已令成为车乘,已令成为基础,已练习,已善修习,已善确立。然而,我的心仍被嗔恚所占据。'应对他说:'不应如此!尊者,勿作是说!勿谤世尊!谤世尊实非善。世尊决不会如此说。朋友,不可能、不会发生这样的事:已修习、多修慈心解脱,已令其增长,已令成为车乘,已令成为基础,已练习,已善修习,已善确立,而心仍被嗔恚所占据。朋友,此事实不可能。朋友,此慈心解脱确是嗔恚的出离。'
(接下来的五种出离界分别是:悲心解脱是害的出离、喜心解脱是不悦的出离、舍心解脱是贪与嗔的出离、无相心解脱是一切相的出离、我慢的除灭是我见的出离。每种出离界的解释方式与第一种类似。)
六无上:见无上、闻无上、得无上、学无上、事无上、念无上。
六随念处:佛随念、法随念、僧随念、戒随念、舍随念、天随念。
六恒住:朋友们,于此,比丘以眼见色,不喜、不忧,住于舍,正念正知。以耳闻声......以鼻嗅香......以舌尝味......以身触所触......以意知法,不喜、不忧,住于舍,正念正知。
六生类:朋友们,于此,有人生于黑暗,趣向黑暗;有人生于黑暗,趣向光明;有人生于光明,趣向黑暗;有人生于光明,趣向光明;有人既非生于黑暗,亦非生于光明,趣向涅槃;有人既非生于黑暗,亦非生于光明,趣向无所著涅槃。
六觉分想:无常想、无常苦想、苦无我想、断想、离贪想、灭想。
朋友们,这就是那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说的六法。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。
【七法】
朋友们,有七法为那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。什么是七法?
七财:信财、戒财、惭财、愧财、闻财、舍财、慧财。
七觉支:念觉支、择法觉支、精进觉支、喜觉支、轻安觉支、定觉支、舍觉支。
七定资具:正见、正思惟、正语、正业、正命、正精进、正念。
七非法:朋友们,于此,比丘无信、无惭、无愧、少闻、懈怠、失念、无慧。
七法:朋友们,于此,比丘有信、有惭、有愧、多闻、精进、具念、有慧。
七善士法:朋友们,于此,比丘知法、知义、知己、知量、知时、知众、知人。
七妙法:朋友们,于此,比丘乐于见佛,乐于听法,乐于修学,乐于断除,乐于远离,乐于不放逸,乐于禅思。
七想:无常想、无我想、不净想、过患想、断想、离贪想、灭想。
七力:信力、精进力、惭力、愧力、念力、定力、慧力。
七识住:朋友们,有色身异想异的众生,如人、一些天神、一些堕处众生。这是第一识住。
有色身异想一的众生,如梵众天最初生时。这是第二识住。
有色身一想异的众生,如光音天。这是第三识住。
有色身一想一的众生,如遍净天。这是第四识住。
有众生超越一切色想,灭有对想,不作意种种想,到达'空无边处'。这是第五识住。
有众生完全超越空无边处,到达'识无边处'。这是第六识住。
有众生完全超越识无边处,到达'无所有处'。这是第七识住。
七种人应供养、应恭敬、是世间无上福田:俱解脱、慧解脱、身证、见至、信解脱、随法行、随信行。
七随眠:欲贪随眠、瞋恚随眠、见随眠、疑随眠、慢随眠、有贪随眠、无明随眠。
七结:顺贪结、逆贪结、慢结、见结、疑结、嫉结、悭结。
七灭诤法:现前毗尼、忆念毗尼、不痴毗尼、自言治、多人语、罪处所、草覆地。
朋友们,这就是那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说的七法。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。
【八法】
朋友们,有八法为那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。什么是八法?
八邪:邪见、邪思惟、邪语、邪业、邪命、邪精进、邪念、邪定。
八正:正见、正思惟、正语、正业、正命、正精进、正念、正定。
八补特伽罗:预流向、预流果、一来向、一来果、不还向、不还果、阿罗汉向、阿罗汉果。
八懈怠事:朋友们,于此,比丘有工作要做。他如是思惟:'我有工作要做。做工作时,我身体会疲劳。我还是先躺下吧。'于是他躺下,不发起精进以证得未证得、未到达、未实现的,不以勇猛护持已证得的。这是第一懈怠事。
再者,比丘已做完工作。他如是思惟:'我已做完工作。做工作时,我身体已疲劳。我还是躺下吧。'于是他躺下,不发起精进......这是第二懈怠事。
再者,比丘要走路。他如是思惟:'我要走路。走路时,我身体会疲劳。我还是先躺下吧。'于是他躺下,不发起精进......这是第三懈怠事。
再者,比丘已走完路。他如是思惟:'我已走完路。走路时,我身体已疲劳。我还是躺下吧。'于是他躺下,不发起精进......这是第四懈怠事。
再者,比丘在村落或市镇乞食,未得到充足美味的饮食。他如是思惟:'我在村落或市镇乞食,未得到充足美味的饮食。我身体虚弱疲劳。我还是躺下吧。'于是他躺下,不发起精进......这是第五懈怠事。
再者,比丘在村落或市镇乞食,得到充足美味的饮食。他如是思惟:'我在村落或市镇乞食,得到充足美味的饮食。我身体沉重,如豆荚。我还是躺下吧。'于是他躺下,不发起精进......这是第六懈怠事。
再者,比丘生起了轻微的病。他如是思惟:'我生起了轻微的病。有理由躺下。我还是躺下吧。'于是他躺下,不发起精进以证得未证得、未到达、未实现的,不以勇猛护持已证得的。这是第七懈怠事。
再者,比丘刚从病中康复不久。他如是思惟:'我刚从病中康复不久。我的身体还很虚弱。我还是躺下吧。'于是他躺下,不发起精进以证得未证得、未到达、未实现的,不以勇猛护持已证得的。这是第八懈怠事。
八精进事:朋友们,于此,比丘有工作要做。他如是思惟:'我有工作要做。做工作时,我将难以作意佛陀的教导。我应当先发起精进以证得未证得、未到达、未实现的,以勇猛护持已证得的。'于是他发起精进......这是第一精进事。
再者,比丘已做完工作。他如是思惟:'我已做完工作。做工作时,我无法作意佛陀的教导。现在我应当发起精进......'于是他发起精进......这是第二精进事。
再者,比丘要走路。他如是思惟:'我要走路。走路时,我将难以作意佛陀的教导。我应当先发起精进......'于是他发起精进......这是第三精进事。
再者,比丘已走完路。他如是思惟:'我已走完路。走路时,我无法作意佛陀的教导。现在我应当发起精进......'于是他发起精进......这是第四精进事。
再者,比丘在村落或市镇乞食,未得到充足美味的饮食。他如是思惟:'我在村落或市镇乞食,未得到充足美味的饮食。我的身体轻盈,适合修行。我应当发起精进......'于是他发起精进......这是第五精进事。
再者,比丘在村落或市镇乞食,得到充足美味的饮食。他如是思惟:'我在村落或市镇乞食,得到充足美味的饮食。我的身体有力,适合修行。我应当发起精进......'于是他发起精进......这是第六精进事。
再者,比丘生起了轻微的病。他如是思惟:'我生起了轻微的病。可能病情会加重。我应当先发起精进以证得未证得、未到达、未实现的,以勇猛护持已证得的。'于是他发起精进......这是第七精进事。
再者,比丘刚从病中康复不久。他如是思惟:'我刚从病中康复不久。可能病情会复发。我应当先发起精进以证得未证得、未到达、未实现的,以勇猛护持已证得的。'于是他发起精进......这是第八精进事。
八施事:随手施、怖畏施、报恩施、求福施、世俗施、为名施、庄严心施、资助道业施。
八重生:朋友们,于此,有善家子,从富裕、大财、大富的刹帝利家、婆罗门家或居士家出家。他为了利益、为了安乐、为了解脱而出家。他以热忱、努力、专注、不放逸而住,证得胜妙的心境。这是第一重生。
再者,有善家子,从富裕、大财、大富的刹帝利家、婆罗门家或居士家出家。他为了利益、为了安乐、为了解脱而出家。他以热忱、努力、专注、不放逸而住,触证真理的智见。这是第二重生。
再者,有善家子,从富裕、大财、大富的刹帝利家、婆罗门家或居士家出家。他为了利益、为了安乐、为了解脱而出家。他以热忱、努力、专注、不放逸而住,断除三结,成为预流,不堕恶趣,决定趣向正觉。这是第三重生。
再者,有善家子,从富裕、大财、大富的刹帝利家、婆罗门家或居士家出家。他为了利益、为了安乐、为了解脱而出家。他以热忱、努力、专注、不放逸而住,断除三结,薄贪、嗔、痴,成为一来,还来此世一次后便能作苦边。这是第四重生。
再者,有善家子,从富裕、大财、大富的刹帝利家、婆罗门家或居士家出家。他为了利益、为了安乐、为了解脱而出家。他以热忱、努力、专注、不放逸而住,断尽五下分结,成为化生者,在那里般涅槃,不再从那世界回来。这是第五重生。
再者,有善家子,从富裕、大财、大富的刹帝利家、婆罗门家或居士家出家。他为了利益、为了安乐、为了解脱而出家。他以热忱、努力、专注、不放逸而住,证得诸漏灭尽,无漏心解脱、慧解脱,在现法中自知作证,具足住:'生已尽,梵行已立,所作已办,不受后有。'这是第六重生。
再者,有善家子,非从富裕、大财、大富的刹帝利家、婆罗门家或居士家出家。他为了利益、为了安乐、为了解脱而出家。他以热忱、努力、专注、不放逸而住,证得胜妙的心境。这是第七重生。
再者,有善家子,非从富裕、大财、大富的刹帝利家、婆罗门家或居士家出家。他为了利益、为了安乐、为了解脱而出家。他以热忱、努力、专注、不放逸而住,触证真理的智见......断除三结......断除三结,薄贪、嗔、痴......断尽五下分结......证得诸漏灭尽,无漏心解脱、慧解脱,在现法中自知作证,具足住:'生已尽,梵行已立,所作已办,不受后有。'这是第八重生。
八世法:得、失、誉、毁、称、讥、苦、乐。
八众:刹帝利众、婆罗门众、居士众、沙门众、四大王天众、三十三天众、魔众、梵天众。
八胜处:内有色想,外观少色,或好或坏,胜解彼色,作如是想:'我知我见。'这是第一胜处。
内有色想,外观多色,或好或坏,胜解彼色,作如是想:'我知我见。'这是第二胜处。
内无色想,外观少色,或好或坏,胜解彼色,作如是想:'我知我见。'这是第三胜处。
内无色想,外观多色,或好或坏,胜解彼色,作如是想:'我知我见。'这是第四胜处。
内无色想,外观青色,青相、青显、青光。如青莲花,或如波罗奈布,光滑柔软,两面鲜净。如是,内无色想,外观青色,青相、青显、青光,胜解彼色,作如是想:'我知我见。'这是第五胜处。
内无色想,外观黄色,黄相、黄显、黄光。如迦尼迦花,或如波罗奈布,光滑柔软,两面鲜净。如是,内无色想,外观黄色,黄相、黄显、黄光,胜解彼色,作如是想:'我知我见。'这是第六胜处。
内无色想,外观赤色,赤相、赤显、赤光。如般豆时婆迦花,或如波罗奈布,光滑柔软,两面鲜净。如是,内无色想,外观赤色,赤相、赤显、赤光,胜解彼色,作如是想:'我知我见。'这是第七胜处。
内无色想,外观白色,白相、白显、白光。如晨星,或如波罗奈布,光滑柔软,两面鲜净。如是,内无色想,外观白色,白相、白显、白光,胜解彼色,作如是想:'我知我见。'这是第八胜处。
八解脱:有色观色,这是第一解脱。
内无色想,外观色,这是第二解脱。
净解脱身作证具足住,这是第三解脱。
超越一切色想,灭有对想,不作意种种想,达到'空无边处',这是第四解脱。
完全超越空无边处,达到'识无边处',这是第五解脱。
完全超越识无边处,达到'无所有处',这是第六解脱。
完全超越无所有处,达到'非想非非想处',这是第七解脱。
完全超越非想非非想处,达到'想受灭',这是第八解脱。
朋友们,这就是那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说的八法。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。
【九法】
朋友们,有九法为那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。什么是九法?
九嗔恨事:他伤害了我,他正在伤害我,他将要伤害我;他伤害了我所爱的人,他正在伤害我所爱的人,他将要伤害我所爱的人;他帮助了我所憎恨的人,他正在帮助我所憎恨的人,他将要帮助我所憎恨的人。
九调伏嗔恨事:他伤害了我,我对此有何益处?他正在伤害我,我对此有何益处?他将要伤害我,我对此有何益处?他伤害了我所爱的人,我对此有何益处?他正在伤害我所爱的人,我对此有何益处?他将要伤害我所爱的人,我对此有何益处?他帮助了我所憎恨的人,我对此有何益处?他正在帮助我所憎恨的人,我对此有何益处?他将要帮助我所憎恨的人,我对此有何益处?
九有情居处:朋友们,有些有情,身异想异,如人、某些天神、某些堕处众生。这是第一有情居处。
有些有情,身异想一,如梵众天初生时。这是第二有情居处。
有些有情,身一想异,如光音天。这是第三有情居处。
有些有情,身一想一,如遍净天。这是第四有情居处。
有些有情,无想无受,如无想有情天。这是第五有情居处。
有些有情,超越一切色想,灭有对想,不作意种种想,达到'空无边处'。这是第六有情居处。
有些有情,完全超越空无边处,达到'识无边处'。这是第七有情居处。
有些有情,完全超越识无边处,达到'无所有处'。这是第八有情居处。

九不时不节:朋友们,如来出现于世间,阿罗汉、正等觉者,法被善说,导向寂静、正觉、涅槃,但有情生于无想有情天中。这是第一不时不节于梵行。
再者,如来出现于世间,阿罗汉、正等觉者,法被善说,导向寂静、正觉、涅槃,但有情生于边地,在愚痴的未开化民族中,那里没有比丘、比丘尼、优婆塞、优婆夷前往。这是第二不时不节于梵行。
再者,如来出现于世间,阿罗汉、正等觉者,法被善说,导向寂静、正觉、涅槃,但有情生于中国,却成为邪见者,持颠倒见:'无布施,无供养,无祭祀,无善恶业果报,无此世,无他世,无父,无母,无化生有情,世间无真正修行、正行的沙门、婆罗门能自证悟此世他世而宣说。'这是第三不时不节于梵行。
再者,如来出现于世间,阿罗汉、正等觉者,法被善说,导向寂静、正觉、涅槃,但有情生于中国,却不具足智慧,愚钝、聋哑,不能辨别善说与恶说。这是第四不时不节于梵行。
再者,如来未出现于世间,非阿罗汉、正等觉者,法未被善说,不导向寂静、正觉、涅槃,而有情生于中国,具足智慧,不愚钝、不聋哑,能辨别善说与恶说。这是第五不时不节于梵行。
再者,如来未出现于世间,非阿罗汉、正等觉者,法未被善说,不导向寂静、正觉、涅槃,而有情生于中国。这是第六不时不节于梵行。
再者,如来出现于世间,阿罗汉、正等觉者,法被善说,导向寂静、正觉、涅槃,但有情生于中国,却不具足智慧,愚钝、聋哑,不能辨别善说与恶说。这是第七不时不节于梵行。
再者,如来出现于世间,阿罗汉、正等觉者,法被善说,导向寂静、正觉、涅槃,有情生于中国,具足智慧,不愚钝、不聋哑,能辨别善说与恶说,但法未被善说,不导向寂静、正觉、涅槃。这是第八不时不节于梵行。
再者,如来出现于世间,阿罗汉、正等觉者,法被善说,导向寂静、正觉、涅槃,有情生于中国,具足智慧,不愚钝、不聋哑,能辨别善说与恶说,法被善说,导向寂静、正觉、涅槃,但他们不听闻该法。这是第九不时不节于梵行。
九次第住:朋友们,此处,比丘离欲、离不善法,有寻有伺,离生喜乐,具足初禅而住。寻伺寂静,内心专一,无寻无伺,定生喜乐,具足第二禅而住。离喜而住,念与正知,以身受乐,圣者说:'舍念乐住。'具足第三禅而住。断乐断苦,先前的喜忧已灭,不苦不乐,舍念清净,具足第四禅而住。
完全超越色想,灭有对想,不作意种种想,达到'空无边处',具足空无边处而住。完全超越空无边处,达到'识无边处',具足识无边处而住。完全超越识无边处,达到'无所有处',具足无所有处而住。完全超越无所有处,达到'非想非非想处',具足非想非非想处而住。完全超越非想非非想处,达到'想受灭',具足想受灭而住。
九次第灭:于初禅时,语言已灭。于第二禅时,寻伺已灭。于第三禅时,喜已灭。于第四禅时,入出息已灭。于空无边处时,色想已灭。于识无边处时,空无边处想已灭。于无所有处时,识无边处想已灭。于非想非非想处时,无所有处想已灭。于想受灭时,想与受已灭。
朋友们,这就是那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说的九法。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。
【十法】
朋友们,有十法为那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。什么是十法?
十护卫法:此处,朋友们,比丘具足戒行,防护别解脱律仪,具足正行与行处,于微细罪见怖畏,受持学处而学。这是护卫法。
再者,朋友们,比丘多闻、持法、积集法。凡是初善、中善、后善,有义有文的法,宣说清净圆满的梵行,如是诸法,他多闻、忆持、积习、善观察、以见善通达。这是护卫法。
再者,朋友们,比丘结交善友、善伴侣、善同志。这是护卫法。
再者,朋友们,比丘善言、易于共事,忍辱,能接受善意的批评。这是护卫法。
再者,朋友们,比丘对同梵行者的大小事务,熟练、不懈怠,具足思察的智慧,能作能办。这是护卫法。
再者,朋友们,比丘乐法、喜法、以法为乐,对增上法、增上律极为欢喜。这是护卫法。
再者,朋友们,比丘对四种正勤,生起意欲、精进、勇猛、坚固,不舍善法。这是护卫法。
再者,朋友们,比丘知足,对衣食住药等生活必需品知足。这是护卫法。
再者,朋友们,比丘具念,以最高的念和智慧成就,能忆念、忆想长久以前所作、所说的事。这是护卫法。
再者,朋友们,比丘有慧,具足了知生灭的智慧,这圣洁、通达的智慧能正确顺逆观察并导向苦的完全止息。这是护卫法。
十遍处:地遍、水遍、火遍、风遍、青遍、黄遍、赤遍、白遍、空遍、识遍。

十圣居处:此处,朋友们,比丘已断五支,具足六支,一护卫,四依止,除遣邪见,善除觅求,无浊思惟,身行轻安,心善解脱,慧善解脱。
怎样比丘已断五支?此处,朋友们,比丘已断欲贪,已断嗔恚,已断昏沉睡眠,已断掉举恶作,已断疑惑。如是比丘已断五支。
怎样比丘具足六支?此处,朋友们,比丘以眼见色已,不喜不忧,住于舍,正念正知。以耳闻声已...以鼻嗅香已...以舌尝味已...以身触触已...以意知法已,不喜不忧,住于舍,正念正知。如是比丘具足六支。
怎样比丘一护卫?此处,朋友们,比丘以念护卫其心。如是比丘一护卫。
怎样比丘四依止?此处,朋友们,比丘思择而依止一法,忍受而依止一法,远离而依止一法,除遣而依止一法。如是比丘四依止。
怎样比丘除遣邪见?此处,朋友们,比丘已除遣、舍弃、吐出、断绝、解脱种种沙门、婆罗门的邪见。如是比丘除遣邪见。
怎样比丘善除觅求?此处,朋友们,比丘已舍离对欲的觅求,已舍离对有的觅求,对梵行的觅求已寂静。如是比丘善除觅求。
怎样比丘无浊思惟?此处,朋友们,比丘已舍离欲寻,已舍离恚寻,已舍离害寻。如是比丘无浊思惟。
怎样比丘身行轻安?此处,朋友们,比丘已舍离乐,已舍离苦,先前的喜忧已灭,不苦不乐,舍念清净,具足第四禅而住。如是比丘身行轻安。
怎样比丘心善解脱?此处,朋友们,比丘心从欲贪解脱,心从嗔恚解脱,心从愚痴解脱。如是比丘心善解脱。
怎样比丘慧善解脱?此处,朋友们,比丘了知:'我的欲贪已尽,我的嗔恚已尽,我的愚痴已尽,不再有后有。'如是比丘慧善解脱。
十遍:有人修习地遍,上下四方无二无量。有人修习水遍...火遍...风遍...青遍...黄遍...赤遍...白遍...空遍...识遍,上下四方无二无量。
朋友们,这就是那位知者、见者、阿罗汉、正等觉者所善说的十法。我们应该共同诵读,不应该争论,让这梵行久住,为了众生的利益,为了众生的安乐,出于对世间的悲悯,为了天神和人类的利益与安乐。

296. Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā mallesu cārikaṃ caramāno mahatā bhikkhusaṅghena saddhiṃ pañcamattehi bhikkhusatehi yena pāvā nāma mallānaṃ nagaraṃ tadavasari. Tatra sudaṃ bhagavā pāvāyaṃ viharati cundassa kammāraputtassa ambavane.
Ubbhatakanavasandhāgāraṃ
297. Tena kho pana samayena pāveyyakānaṃ mallānaṃ ubbhatakaṃ nāma navaṃ sandhāgāraṃ acirakāritaṃ hoti anajjhāvuṭṭhaṃ samaṇena vā brāhmaṇena vā kenaci vā manussabhūtena. Assosuṃ kho pāveyyakā mallā– “bhagavā kira mallesu cārikaṃ caramāno mahatā bhikkhusaṅghena saddhiṃ pañcamattehi bhikkhusatehi pāvaṃ anuppatto pāvāyaṃ viharati cundassa kammāraputtassa ambavane”ti. Atha kho pāveyyakā mallā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdiṃsu. Ekamantaṃ nisinnā kho pāveyyakā mallā bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ– “idha, bhante, pāveyyakānaṃ mallānaṃ ubbhatakaṃ nāma navaṃ sandhāgāraṃ acirakāritaṃ hoti anajjhāvuṭṭhaṃ samaṇena vā brāhmaṇena vā kenaci vā manussabhūtena. Tañca kho, bhante, bhagavā paṭhamaṃ paribhuñjatu, bhagavatā paṭhamaṃ paribhuttaṃ pacchā pāveyyakā mallā paribhuñjissanti. Tadassa pāveyyakānaṃ mallānaṃ dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāyā”ti. Adhivāsesi kho bhagavā tuṇhībhāvena.

Atha kho pāveyyakā mallā bhagavato adhivāsanaṃ viditvā uṭṭhāyāsanā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā yena sandhāgāraṃ tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā sabbasanthariṃ sandhāgāraṃ santharitvā bhagavato āsanāni paññāpetvā udakamaṇikaṃ patiṭṭhapetvā telapadīpaṃ āropetvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ aṭṭhaṃsu. Ekamantaṃ ṭhitā kho te pāveyyakā mallā bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ– “sabbasantharisanthataṃ, bhante, sandhāgāraṃ, bhagavato āsanāni paññattāni, udakamaṇiko patiṭṭhāpito, telapadīpo āropito. Yassadāni, bhante, bhagavā kālaṃ maññatī”ti.
299. Atha kho bhagavā nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya saddhiṃ bhikkhusaṅghena yena sandhāgāraṃ tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā pāde pakkhāletvā sandhāgāraṃ pavisitvā majjhimaṃ thambhaṃ nissāya puratthābhimukho nisīdi. Bhikkhusaṅghopi kho pāde pakkhāletvā sandhāgāraṃ pavisitvā pacchimaṃ bhittiṃ nissāya puratthābhimukho nisīdi bhagavantaṃyeva purakkhatvā. Pāveyyakāpi kho mallā pāde pakkhāletvā sandhāgāraṃ pavisitvā puratthimaṃ bhittiṃ nissāya pacchimābhimukhā nisīdiṃsu bhagavantaṃyeva purakkhatvā. Atha kho bhagavā pāveyyake malle bahudeva rattiṃ dhammiyā kathāya sandassetvā samādapetvā samuttejetvā sampahaṃsetvā uyyojesi– “abhikkantā kho, vāseṭṭhā, ratti. Yassadāni tumhe kālaṃ maññathā”ti. “Evaṃ, bhante”ti kho pāveyyakā mallā bhagavato paṭissutvā uṭṭhāyāsanā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṃ katvā pakkamiṃsu.
300. Atha kho bhagavā acirapakkantesu pāveyyakesu mallesu tuṇhībhūtaṃ tuṇhībhūtaṃ bhikkhusaṃghaṃ anuviloketvā āyasmantaṃ sāriputtaṃ āmantesi– “vigatathinamiddho kho, sāriputta, bhikkhusaṅgho. Paṭibhātu taṃ, sāriputta, bhikkhūnaṃ dhammīkathā. Piṭṭhi me āgilāyati. Tamahaṃ āyamissāmī”ti. “Evaṃ, bhante”ti kho āyasmā sāriputto bhagavato paccassosi. Atha kho bhagavā catugguṇaṃ saṅghāṭiṃ paññapetvā dakkhiṇena passena sīhaseyyaṃ kappesi pāde pādaṃ accādhāya, sato sampajāno uṭṭhānasaññaṃ manasi karitvā.
Bhinnanigaṇṭhavatthu
301. Tena kho pana samayena nigaṇṭho nāṭaputto pāvāyaṃ adhunākālaṅkato hoti. Tassa kālaṅkiriyāya bhinnā nigaṇṭhā dvedhikajātā bhaṇḍanajātā kalahajātā vivādāpannā aññamaññaṃ mukhasattīhi vitudantā viharanti – “na tvaṃ imaṃ dhammavinayaṃ ājānāsi, ahaṃ imaṃ dhammavinayaṃ ājānāmi, kiṃ tvaṃ imaṃ dhammavinayaṃ ājānissasi! Micchāpaṭipanno tvamasi, ahamasmi sammāpaṭipanno. Sahitaṃ me, asahitaṃ te. Purevacanīyaṃ pacchā avaca, pacchāvacanīyaṃ pure avaca. Adhiciṇṇaṃ te viparāvattaṃ, āropito te vādo, niggahito tvamasi, cara vādappamokkhāya, nibbeṭhehi vā sace pahosī”ti. Vadhoyeva kho maññe nigaṇṭhesu nāṭaputtiyesu vattati. Yepi nigaṇṭhassa nāṭaputtassa sāvakā gihī odātavasanā tepi nigaṇṭhesu nāṭaputtiyesu nibbinnarūpā virattarūpā paṭivānarūpā, yathā taṃ durakkhāte dhammavinaye duppavedite aniyyānike anupasamasaṃvattanike asammāsambuddhappavedite bhinnathūpe appaṭisaraṇe.
302. Atha kho āyasmā sāriputto bhikkhū āmantesi – “nigaṇṭho, āvuso, nāṭaputto pāvāyaṃ adhunākālaṅkato, tassa kālaṅkiriyāya bhinnā nigaṇṭhā dvedhikajātā …pe… bhinnathūpe appaṭisaraṇe”. “Evañhetaṃ, āvuso, hoti durakkhāte dhammavinaye duppavedite aniyyānike anupasamasaṃvattanike asammāsambuddhappavedite. Ayaṃ kho panāvuso amhākaṃ bhagavatā dhammo svākkhāto suppavedito niyyāniko upasamasaṃvattaniko sammāsambuddhappavedito. Tattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ, na vivaditabbaṃ, yathayidaṃ brahmacariyaṃ addhaniyaṃ assa ciraṭṭhitikaṃ, tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ.
“Katamo cāvuso, amhākaṃ bhagavatā dhammo svākkhāto suppavedito niyyāniko upasamasaṃvattaniko sammāsambuddhappavedito; yattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ, na vivaditabbaṃ, yathayidaṃ brahmacariyaṃ addhaniyaṃ assa ciraṭṭhitikaṃ, tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ?

306. “Atthi kho, āvuso, tena bhagavatā jānatā passatā arahatā sammāsambuddhena cattāro dhammā sammadakkhātā. Tattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ, na vivaditabbaṃ …pe… atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ. Katame cattāro?
“Cattāro satipaṭṭhānā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu kāye kāyānupassī viharati ātāpī sampajāno satimā, vineyya loke abhijjhādomanassaṃ. Vedanāsu vedanānupassī …pe… citte cittānupassī …pe… dhammesu dhammānupassī viharati ātāpī sampajāno satimā vineyya loke abhijjhādomanassaṃ.
“Cattāro sammappadhānā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu anuppannānaṃ pāpakānaṃ akusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ anuppādāya chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati. Uppannānaṃ pāpakānaṃ akusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ pahānāya chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati. Anuppannānaṃ kusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ uppādāya chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati. Uppannānaṃ kusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ ṭhitiyā asammosāya bhiyyobhāvāya vepullāya bhāvanāya pāripūriyā chandaṃ janeti vāyamati vīriyaṃ ārabhati cittaṃ paggaṇhāti padahati.
“Cattāro iddhipādā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu chandasamādhipadhānasaṅkhāra-samannāgataṃ iddhipādaṃ bhāveti. Cittasamādhipadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgataṃ iddhipādaṃ bhāveti. Vīriyasamādhipadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgataṃ iddhipādaṃ bhāveti. Vīmaṃsāsamādhipadhānasaṅkhārasamannāgataṃ iddhipādaṃ bhāveti.
“Cattāri jhānāni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu vivicceva kāmehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakkaṃ savicāraṃ vivekajaṃ pītisukhaṃ paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Vitakkavicārānaṃ vūpasamā ajjhattaṃ sampasādanaṃ cetaso ekodibhāvaṃ avitakkaṃ avicāraṃ samādhijaṃ pītisukhaṃ dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Pītiyā ca virāgā upekkhako ca viharati sato ca sampajāno, sukhañca kāyena paṭisaṃvedeti, yaṃ taṃ ariyā ācikkhanti– ‘upekkhako satimā sukhavihārī’ti tatiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sukhassa ca pahānā dukkhassa ca pahānā, pubbeva somanassadomanassānaṃ atthaṅgamā, adukkhamasukhaṃ upekkhāsatipārisuddhiṃ catutthaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati.
307. “Catasso samādhibhāvanā. Atthāvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā diṭṭhadhammasukhavihārāya saṃvattati. Atthāvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā ñāṇadassanapaṭilābhāya saṃvattati. Atthāvuso samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā satisampajaññāya saṃvattati. Atthāvuso samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā āsavānaṃ khayāya saṃvattati.
“Katamā cāvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā diṭṭhadhammasukhavihārāya saṃvattati? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu vivicceva kāmehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakkaṃ …pe… catutthaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Ayaṃ, āvuso samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā diṭṭhadhammasukhavihārāya saṃvattati.
“Katamā cāvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā ñāṇadassanapaṭilābhāya saṃvattati? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu ālokasaññaṃ manasi karoti, divāsaññaṃ adhiṭṭhāti yathā divā tathā rattiṃ, yathā rattiṃ tathā divā. Iti vivaṭena cetasā apariyonaddhena sappabhāsaṃ cittaṃ bhāveti. Ayaṃ, āvuso samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā ñāṇadassanapaṭilābhāya saṃvattati.
“Katamā cāvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā satisampajaññāya saṃvattati? Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno viditā vedanā uppajjanti, viditā upaṭṭhahanti, viditā abbhatthaṃ gacchanti. Viditā saññā uppajjanti, viditā upaṭṭhahanti, viditā abbhatthaṃ gacchanti. Viditā vitakkā uppajjanti, viditā upaṭṭhahanti, viditā abbhatthaṃ gacchanti. Ayaṃ, āvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā satisampajaññāya saṃvattati.
“Katamā cāvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā āsavānaṃ khayāya saṃvattati? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu pañcasu upādānakkhandhesu udayabbayānupassī viharati. Iti rūpaṃ, iti rūpassa samudayo, iti rūpassa atthaṅgamo. Iti vedanā …pe… iti saññā… iti saṅkhārā… iti viññāṇaṃ, iti viññāṇassa samudayo, iti viññāṇassa atthaṅgamo. Ayaṃ, āvuso, samādhibhāvanā bhāvitā bahulīkatā āsavānaṃ khayāya saṃvattati.
308. “Catasso appamaññā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu mettāsahagatena cetasā ekaṃ disaṃ pharitvā viharati. Tathā dutiyaṃ. Tathā tatiyaṃ. Tathā catutthaṃ. Iti uddhamadho tiriyaṃ sabbadhi sabbattatāya sabbāvantaṃ lokaṃ mettāsahagatena cetasā vipulena mahaggatena appamāṇena averena abyāpajjena pharitvā viharati. Karuṇāsahagatena cetasā …pe… muditāsahagatena cetasā …pe… upekkhāsahagatena cetasā ekaṃ disaṃ pharitvā viharati. Tathā dutiyaṃ. Tathā tatiyaṃ. Tathā catutthaṃ. Iti uddhamadho tiriyaṃ sabbadhi sabbattatāya sabbāvantaṃ lokaṃ upekkhāsahagatena cetasā vipulena mahaggatena appamāṇena averena abyāpajjena pharitvā viharati.
“Cattāro āruppā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu sabbaso rūpasaññānaṃ samatikkamā paṭighasaññānaṃ atthaṅgamā nānattasaññānaṃ amanasikārā ‘ananto ākāso’ti ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sabbaso ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘anantaṃ viññāṇan’ti viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sabbaso viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘natthi kiñcī’ti ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sabbaso ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ samatikkamma nevasaññānāsaññāyatanaṃ upasampajja viharati.
“Cattāri apassenāni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu saṅkhāyekaṃ paṭisevati, saṅkhāyekaṃ adhivāseti, saṅkhāyekaṃ parivajjeti, saṅkhāyekaṃ vinodeti.
309. “Cattāro ariyavaṃsā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu santuṭṭho hoti itarītarena cīvarena, itarītaracīvarasantuṭṭhiyā ca vaṇṇavādī, na ca cīvarahetu anesanaṃ appatirūpaṃ āpajjati; aladdhā ca cīvaraṃ na paritassati, laddhā ca cīvaraṃ agadhito amucchito anajjhāpanno ādīnavadassāvī nissaraṇapañño paribhuñjati; tāya ca pana itarītaracīvarasantuṭṭhiyā nevattānukkaṃseti na paraṃ vambheti. Yo hi tattha dakkho analaso sampajāno paṭissato, ayaṃ vuccatāvuso ‘bhikkhu porāṇe aggaññe ariyavaṃse ṭhito’.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu santuṭṭho hoti itarītarena piṇḍapātena, itarītarapiṇḍapātasantuṭṭhiyā ca vaṇṇavādī, na ca piṇḍapātahetu anesanaṃ appatirūpaṃ āpajjati; aladdhā ca piṇḍapātaṃ na paritassati, laddhā ca piṇḍapātaṃ agadhito amucchito anajjhāpanno ādīnavadassāvī nissaraṇapañño paribhuñjati; tāya ca pana itarītarapiṇḍapātasantuṭṭhiyā nevattānukkaṃseti na paraṃ vambheti. Yo hi tattha dakkho analaso sampajāno paṭissato ayaṃ vuccatāvuso– ‘bhikkhu porāṇe aggaññe ariyavaṃse ṭhito’.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu santuṭṭho hoti itarītarena senāsanena, itarītarasenāsanasantuṭṭhiyā ca vaṇṇavādī, na ca senāsanahetu anesanaṃ appatirūpaṃ āpajjati; aladdhā ca senāsanaṃ na paritassati, laddhā ca senāsanaṃ agadhito amucchito anajjhāpanno ādīnavadassāvī nissaraṇapañño paribhuñjati; tāya ca pana itarītarasenāsanasantuṭṭhiyā nevattānukkaṃseti na paraṃ vambheti. Yo hi tattha dakkho analaso sampajāno paṭissato, ayaṃ vuccatāvuso– ‘bhikkhu porāṇe aggaññe ariyavaṃse ṭhito’.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu pahānārāmo hoti pahānarato, bhāvanārāmo hoti bhāvanārato; tāya ca pana pahānārāmatāya pahānaratiyā bhāvanārāmatāya bhāvanāratiyā nevattānukkaṃseti na paraṃ vambheti. Yo hi tattha dakkho analaso sampajāno paṭissato ayaṃ vuccatāvuso– ‘bhikkhu porāṇe aggaññe ariyavaṃse ṭhito’.
310. “Cattāri padhānāni. Saṃvarapadhānaṃ pahānapadhānaṃ bhāvanāpadhānaṃ anurakkhaṇāpadhānaṃ. Katamañcāvuso, saṃvarapadhānaṃ? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu cakkhunā rūpaṃ disvā na nimittaggāhī hoti nānubyañjanaggāhī. Yatvādhikaraṇamenaṃ cakkhundriyaṃ asaṃvutaṃ viharantaṃ abhijjhādomanassā pāpakā akusalā dhammā anvāssaveyyuṃ, tassa saṃvarāya paṭipajjati, rakkhati cakkhundriyaṃ, cakkhundriye saṃvaraṃ āpajjati. Sotena saddaṃ sutvā… ghānena gandhaṃ ghāyitvā… jivhāya rasaṃ sāyitvā… kāyena phoṭṭhabbaṃ phusitvā… manasā dhammaṃ viññāya na nimittaggāhī hoti nānubyañjanaggāhī. Yatvādhikaraṇamenaṃ manindriyaṃ asaṃvutaṃ viharantaṃ abhijjhādomanassā pāpakā akusalā dhammā anvāssaveyyuṃ, tassa saṃvarāya paṭipajjati, rakkhati manindriyaṃ, manindriye saṃvaraṃ āpajjati. Idaṃ vuccatāvuso, saṃvarapadhānaṃ.
“Katamañcāvuso, pahānapadhānaṃ? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu uppannaṃ kāmavitakkaṃ nādhivāseti pajahati vinodeti byantiṃ karoti anabhāvaṃ gameti. Uppannaṃ byāpādavitakkaṃ …pe… uppannaṃ vihiṃsāvitakkaṃ… uppannuppanne pāpake akusale dhamme nādhivāseti pajahati vinodeti byantiṃ karoti anabhāvaṃ gameti. Idaṃ vuccatāvuso, pahānapadhānaṃ.
“Katamañcāvuso bhāvanāpadhānaṃ? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu satisambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti vivekanissitaṃ virāganissitaṃ nirodhanissitaṃ vossaggapariṇāmiṃ. Dhammavicayasambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… vīriyasambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… pītisambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… passaddhisambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… samādhisambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti… upekkhāsambojjhaṅgaṃ bhāveti vivekanissitaṃ virāganissitaṃ nirodhanissitaṃ vossaggapariṇāmiṃ. Idaṃ vuccatāvuso, bhāvanāpadhānaṃ.
“Katamañcāvuso, anurakkhaṇāpadhānaṃ? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu uppannaṃ bhadrakaṃ samādhinimittaṃ anurakkhati– aṭṭhikasaññaṃ, puḷuvakasaññaṃ , vinīlakasaññaṃ, vicchiddakasaññaṃ, uddhumātakasaññaṃ. Idaṃ vuccatāvuso, anurakkhaṇāpadhānaṃ.
“Cattāri ñāṇāni– dhamme ñāṇaṃ, anvaye ñāṇaṃ, pariye ñāṇaṃ, sammutiyā ñāṇaṃ.
“Aparānipi cattāri ñāṇāni– dukkhe ñāṇaṃ, dukkhasamudaye ñāṇaṃ, dukkhanirodhe ñāṇaṃ, dukkhanirodhagāminiyā paṭipadāya ñāṇaṃ.
311. “Cattāri sotāpattiyaṅgāni– sappurisasaṃsevo, saddhammassavanaṃ, yonisomanasikāro, dhammānudhammappaṭipatti.
“Cattāri sotāpannassa aṅgāni. Idhāvuso, ariyasāvako buddhe aveccappasādena samannāgato hoti– ‘itipi so bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho vijjācaraṇasampanno sugato lokavidū anuttaro purisadammasārathi satthā devamanussānaṃ buddho, bhagavā’ti. Dhamme aveccappasādena samannāgato hoti– ‘svākkhāto bhagavatā dhammo sandiṭṭhiko akāliko ehipassiko opaneyyiko paccattaṃ veditabbo viññūhī’ti. Saṅghe aveccappasādena samannāgato hoti– ‘suppaṭipanno bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho ujuppaṭipanno bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho ñāyappaṭipanno bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho sāmīcippaṭipanno bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho yadidaṃ cattāri purisayugāni aṭṭha purisapuggalā, esa bhagavato sāvakasaṅgho āhuneyyo pāhuneyyo dakkhiṇeyyo añjalikaraṇīyo anuttaraṃ puññakkhettaṃ lokassā’ti. Ariyakantehi sīlehi samannāgato hoti akhaṇḍehi acchiddehi asabalehi akammāsehi bhujissehi viññuppasatthehi aparāmaṭṭhehi samādhisaṃvattanikehi.
“Cattāri sāmaññaphalāni– sotāpattiphalaṃ, sakadāgāmiphalaṃ, anāgāmiphalaṃ, arahattaphalaṃ.
“Catasso dhātuyo– pathavīdhātu, āpodhātu, tejodhātu, vāyodhātu.
“Cattāro āhārā– kabaḷīkāro āhāro oḷāriko vā sukhumo vā, phasso dutiyo, manosañcetanā tatiyā, viññāṇaṃ catutthaṃ.
“Catasso viññāṇaṭṭhitiyo. Rūpūpāyaṃ vā, āvuso, viññāṇaṃ tiṭṭhamānaṃ tiṭṭhati rūpārammaṇaṃ rūpappatiṭṭhaṃ nandūpasecanaṃ vuddhiṃ virūḷhiṃ vepullaṃ āpajjati; vedanūpāyaṃ vā āvuso …pe… saññūpāyaṃ vā, āvuso …pe… saṅkhārūpāyaṃ vā, āvuso, viññāṇaṃ tiṭṭhamānaṃ tiṭṭhati saṅkhārārammaṇaṃ saṅkhārappatiṭṭhaṃ nandūpasecanaṃ vuddhiṃ virūḷhiṃ vepullaṃ āpajjati.
“Cattāri agatigamanāni– chandāgatiṃ gacchati, dosāgati gacchati, mohāgatiṃ gacchati, bhayāgatiṃ gacchati.
“Cattāro taṇhuppādā– cīvarahetu vā, āvuso, bhikkhuno taṇhā uppajjamānā uppajjati; piṇḍapātahetu vā, āvuso, bhikkhuno taṇhā uppajjamānā uppajjati; senāsanahetu vā, āvuso, bhikkhuno taṇhā uppajjamānā uppajjati; itibhavābhavahetu vā, āvuso, bhikkhuno taṇhā uppajjamānā uppajjati.
“Catasso paṭipadā– dukkhā paṭipadā dandhābhiññā, dukkhā paṭipadā khippābhiññā, sukhā paṭipadā dandhābhiññā, sukhā paṭipadā khippābhiññā.
“Aparāpi catasso paṭipadā– akkhamā paṭipadā, khamā paṭipadā, damā paṭipadā, samā paṭipadā.
“Cattāri dhammapadāni– anabhijjhā dhammapadaṃ, abyāpādo dhammapadaṃ, sammāsati dhammapadaṃ, sammāsamādhi dhammapadaṃ.
“Cattāri dhammasamādānāni– atthāvuso, dhammasamādānaṃ paccuppannadukkhañceva āyatiñca dukkhavipākaṃ. Atthāvuso, dhammasamādānaṃ paccuppannadukkhaṃ āyatiṃ sukhavipākaṃ. Atthāvuso, dhammasamādānaṃ paccuppannasukhaṃ āyatiṃ dukkhavipākaṃ. Atthāvuso, dhammasamādānaṃ paccuppannasukhañceva āyatiñca sukhavipākaṃ.
“Cattāro dhammakkhandhā– sīlakkhandho, samādhikkhandho, paññākkhandho, vimuttikkhandho.
“Cattāri balāni– vīriyabalaṃ, satibalaṃ, samādhibalaṃ, paññābalaṃ.
“Cattāri adhiṭṭhānāni– paññādhiṭṭhānaṃ, saccādhiṭṭhānaṃ, cāgādhiṭṭhānaṃ, upasamādhiṭṭhānaṃ.
312. “Cattāri pañhabyākaraṇāni– ekaṃsabyākaraṇīyo pañho, paṭipucchābyākaraṇīyo pañho, vibhajjabyākaraṇīyo pañho, ṭhapanīyo pañho.
“Cattāri kammāni– atthāvuso, kammaṃ kaṇhaṃ kaṇhavipākaṃ; atthāvuso, kammaṃ sukkaṃ sukkavipākaṃ; atthāvuso, kammaṃ kaṇhasukkaṃ kaṇhasukkavipākaṃ; atthāvuso, kammaṃ akaṇha-asukkaṃ akaṇha-asukkavipākaṃ kammakkhayāya saṃvattati.
“Cattāro sacchikaraṇīyā dhammā– pubbenivāso satiyā sacchikaraṇīyo; sattānaṃ cutūpapāto cakkhunā sacchikaraṇīyo; aṭṭha vimokkhā kāyena sacchikaraṇīyā; āsavānaṃ khayo paññāya sacchikaraṇīyo.
“Cattāro oghā– kāmogho, bhavogho, diṭṭhogho, avijjogho.
“Cattāro yogā– kāmayogo, bhavayogo, diṭṭhiyogo, avijjāyogo.
“Cattāro visaññogā– kāmayogavisaññogo, bhavayogavisaññogo, diṭṭhiyogavisaññogo, avijjāyogavisaññogo.
“Cattāro ganthā– abhijjhā kāyagantho, byāpādo kāyagantho, sīlabbataparāmāso kāyagantho, idaṃsaccābhiniveso kāyagantho.
“Cattāri upādānāni– kāmupādānaṃ, diṭṭhupādānaṃ, sīlabbatupādānaṃ, attavādupādānaṃ.
“Catasso yoniyo– aṇḍajayoni, jalābujayoni, saṃsedajayoni, opapātikayoni.
“Catasso gabbhāvakkantiyo. Idhāvuso, ekacco asampajāno mātukucchiṃ okkamati, asampajāno mātukucchismiṃ ṭhāti, asampajāno mātukucchimhā nikkhamati, ayaṃ paṭhamā gabbhāvakkanti. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, idhekacco sampajāno mātukucchiṃ okkamati, asampajāno mātukucchismiṃ ṭhāti, asampajāno mātukucchimhā nikkhamati, ayaṃ dutiyā gabbhāvakkanti. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, idhekacco sampajāno mātukucchiṃ okkamati, sampajāno mātukucchismiṃ ṭhāti, asampajāno mātukucchimhā nikkhamati, ayaṃ tatiyā gabbhāvakkanti. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, idhekacco sampajāno mātukucchiṃ okkamati, sampajāno mātukucchismiṃ ṭhāti, sampajāno mātukucchimhā nikkhamati, ayaṃ catutthā gabbhāvakkanti.
“Cattāro attabhāvapaṭilābhā. Atthāvuso, attabhāvapaṭilābho, yasmiṃ attabhāvapaṭilābhe attasañcetanāyeva kamati, no parasañcetanā. Atthāvuso, attabhāvapaṭilābho, yasmiṃ attabhāvapaṭilābhe parasañcetanāyeva kamati, no attasañcetanā. Atthāvuso, attabhāvapaṭilābho, yasmiṃ attabhāvapaṭilābhe attasañcetanā ceva kamati parasañcetanā ca. Atthāvuso, attabhāvapaṭilābho, yasmiṃ attabhāvapaṭilābhe neva attasañcetanā kamati, no parasañcetanā.
313. “Catasso dakkhiṇāvisuddhiyo. Atthāvuso, dakkhiṇā dāyakato visujjhati no paṭiggāhakato. Atthāvuso, dakkhiṇā paṭiggāhakato visujjhati no dāyakato. Atthāvuso, dakkhiṇā neva dāyakato visujjhati no paṭiggāhakato. Atthāvuso, dakkhiṇā dāyakato ceva visujjhati paṭiggāhakato ca.
“Cattāri saṅgahavatthūni– dānaṃ, peyyavajjaṃ, atthacariyā, samānattatā.
“Cattāro anariyavohārā– musāvādo, pisuṇāvācā, pharusāvācā, samphappalāpo.
“Cattāro ariyavohārā– musāvādā veramaṇī, pisuṇāya vācāya veramaṇī, pharusāya vācāya veramaṇī, samphappalāpā veramaṇī.
“Aparepi cattāro anariyavohārā– adiṭṭhe diṭṭhavāditā, assute sutavāditā, amute mutavāditā, aviññāte viññātavāditā.
“Aparepi cattāro ariyavohārā– adiṭṭhe adiṭṭhavāditā, assute assutavāditā, amute amutavāditā, aviññāte aviññātavāditā.
“Aparepi cattāro anariyavohārā– diṭṭhe adiṭṭhavāditā, sute assutavāditā, mute amutavāditā, viññāte aviññātavāditā.

314. “Cattāro puggalā. Idhāvuso, ekacco puggalo attantapo hoti attaparitāpanānuyogamanuyutto. Idhāvuso, ekacco puggalo parantapo hoti paraparitāpanānuyogamanuyutto. Idhāvuso, ekacco puggalo attantapo ca hoti attaparitāpanānuyogamanuyutto, parantapo ca paraparitāpanānuyogamanuyutto. Idhāvuso, ekacco puggalo neva attantapo hoti na attaparitāpanānuyogamanuyutto na parantapo na paraparitāpanānuyogamanuyutto. So anattantapo aparantapo diṭṭheva dhamme nicchāto nibbuto sītībhūto sukhappaṭisaṃvedī brahmabhūtena attanā viharati.

316. “Pañca abhabbaṭṭhānāni. Abhabbo, āvuso, khīṇāsavo bhikkhu sañcicca pāṇaṃ jīvitā voropetuṃ. Abhabbo khīṇāsavo bhikkhu adinnaṃ theyyasaṅkhātaṃ ādiyituṃ. Abhabbo khīṇāsavo bhikkhu methunaṃ dhammaṃ paṭisevituṃ. Abhabbo khīṇāsavo bhikkhu sampajānamusā bhāsituṃ. Abhabbo khīṇāsavo bhikkhu sannidhikārakaṃ kāme paribhuñjituṃ, seyyathāpi pubbe āgārikabhūto.

Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, dussīlassa sīlavipannassa pāpako kittisaddo abbhuggacchati, ayaṃ dutiyo ādīnavo dussīlassa sīlavipattiyā. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, dussīlo sīlavipanno yaññadeva parisaṃ upasaṅkamati yadi khattiyaparisaṃ yadi brāhmaṇaparisaṃ yadi gahapatiparisaṃ yadi samaṇaparisaṃ, avisārado upasaṅkamati maṅkubhūto, ayaṃ tatiyo ādīnavo dussīlassa sīlavipattiyā. “Pañca ānisaṃsā sīlavato sīlasampadāya. Idhāvuso, sīlavā sīlasampanno appamādādhikaraṇaṃ mahantaṃ bhogakkhandhaṃ adhigacchati, ayaṃ paṭhamo ānisaṃso sīlavato sīlasampadāya. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, sīlavato sīlasampannassa kalyāṇo kittisaddo abbhuggacchati, ayaṃ dutiyo ānisaṃso sīlavato sīlasampadāya. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, sīlavā sīlasampanno yaññadeva parisaṃ upasaṅkamati yadi khattiyaparisaṃ yadi brāhmaṇaparisaṃ yadi gahapatiparisaṃ yadi samaṇaparisaṃ, visārado upasaṅkamati amaṅkubhūto, ayaṃ tatiyo ānisaṃso sīlavato sīlasampadāya. Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, sīlavā sīlasampanno asammūḷho kālaṃ karoti, ayaṃ catuttho ānisaṃso sīlavato sīlasampadāya. “Codakena āvuso, bhikkhunā paraṃ codetukāmena pañca dhamme ajjhattaṃ upaṭṭhapetvā paro codetabbo. Kālena vakkhāmi no akālena, bhūtena vakkhāmi no abhūtena, saṇhena vakkhāmi no pharusena, atthasaṃhitena vakkhāmi no anatthasaṃhitena, mettacittena vakkhāmi no dosantarenāti. Codakena, āvuso, bhikkhunā paraṃ codetukāmena ime pañca dhamme ajjhattaṃ upaṭṭhapetvā paro codetabbo.
317. “Pañca padhāniyaṅgāni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu saddho hoti, saddahati tathāgatassa bodhiṃ– ‘itipi so bhagavā arahaṃ sammāsambuddho vijjācaraṇasampanno sugato, lokavidū anuttaro purisadammasārathi satthā devamanussānaṃ buddho bhagavā’ti. Appābādho hoti appātaṅko, samavepākiniyā gahaṇiyā samannāgato nātisītāya nāccuṇhāya majjhimāya padhānakkhamāya. Asaṭho hoti amāyāvī, yathābhūtaṃ attānaṃ āvikattā satthari vā viññūsu vā sabrahmacārīsu. Āraddhavīriyo viharati akusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ pahānāya kusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ upasampadāya thāmavā daḷhaparakkamo anikkhittadhuro kusalesu dhammesu. Paññavā hoti udayatthagāminiyā paññāya samannāgato ariyāya nibbedhikāya sammādukkhakkhayagāminiyā.

Yo so, āvuso, bhikkhu kāmesu avītarāgo hoti avigatacchando avigatapemo avigatapipāso avigatapariḷāho avigatataṇho, tassa cittaṃ na namati ātappāya anuyogāya sātaccāya padhānāya. Nekkhammaṃ kho panassa manasikaroto nekkhamme cittaṃ pakkhandati pasīdati santiṭṭhati vimuccati. Tassa taṃ cittaṃ sugataṃ subhāvitaṃ suvuṭṭhitaṃ suvimuttaṃ visaṃyuttaṃ kāmehi. Ye ca kāmapaccayā uppajjanti āsavā vighātā pariḷāhā, mutto so tehi, na so taṃ vedanaṃ vedeti. Idamakkhātaṃ kāmānaṃ nissaraṇaṃ.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhuno byāpādaṃ manasikaroto byāpāde cittaṃ na pakkhandati na pasīdati na santiṭṭhati na vimuccati. Abyāpādaṃ kho panassa manasikaroto abyāpāde cittaṃ pakkhandati pasīdati santiṭṭhati vimuccati. Tassa taṃ cittaṃ sugataṃ subhāvitaṃ suvuṭṭhitaṃ suvimuttaṃ visaṃyuttaṃ byāpādena. Ye ca byāpādapaccayā uppajjanti āsavā vighātā pariḷāhā, mutto so tehi, na so taṃ vedanaṃ vedeti. Idamakkhātaṃ byāpādassa nissaraṇaṃ.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhuno vihesaṃ manasikaroto vihesāya cittaṃ na pakkhandati na pasīdati na santiṭṭhati na vimuccati. Avihesaṃ kho panassa manasikaroto avihesāya cittaṃ pakkhandati pasīdati santiṭṭhati vimuccati. Tassa taṃ cittaṃ sugataṃ subhāvitaṃ suvuṭṭhitaṃ suvimuttaṃ visaṃyuttaṃ vihesāya. Ye ca vihesāpaccayā uppajjanti āsavā vighātā pariḷāhā, mutto so tehi, na so taṃ vedanaṃ vedeti. Idamakkhātaṃ vihesāya nissaraṇaṃ.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhuno rūpe manasikaroto rūpesu cittaṃ na pakkhandati na pasīdati na santiṭṭhati na vimuccati. Arūpaṃ kho panassa manasikaroto arūpe cittaṃ pakkhandati pasīdati santiṭṭhati vimuccati. Tassa taṃ cittaṃ sugataṃ subhāvitaṃ suvuṭṭhitaṃ suvimuttaṃ visaṃyuttaṃ rūpehi. Ye ca rūpapaccayā uppajjanti āsavā vighātā pariḷāhā, mutto so tehi, na so taṃ vedanaṃ vedeti. Idamakkhātaṃ rūpānaṃ nissaraṇaṃ.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhuno sakkāyaṃ manasikaroto sakkāye cittaṃ na pakkhandati na pasīdati na santiṭṭhati na vimuccati. Sakkāyanirodhaṃ kho panassa manasikaroto sakkāyanirodhe cittaṃ pakkhandati pasīdati santiṭṭhati vimuccati. Tassa taṃ cittaṃ sugataṃ subhāvitaṃ suvuṭṭhitaṃ suvimuttaṃ visaṃyuttaṃ sakkāyena. Ye ca sakkāyapaccayā uppajjanti āsavā vighātā pariḷāhā, mutto so tehi, na so taṃ vedanaṃ vedeti. Idamakkhātaṃ sakkāyassa nissaraṇaṃ.
322. “Pañca vimuttāyatanāni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno satthā dhammaṃ deseti aññataro vā garuṭṭhāniyo sabrahmacārī. Yathā yathā, āvuso, bhikkhuno satthā dhammaṃ deseti aññataro vā garuṭṭhāniyo sabrahmacārī Tathā tathā so tasmiṃ dhamme atthapaṭisaṃvedī ca hoti dhammapaṭisaṃvedī ca. Tassa atthapaṭisaṃvedino dhammapaṭisaṃvedino pāmojjaṃ jāyati, pamuditassa pīti jāyati, pītimanassa kāyo passambhati, passaddhakāyo sukhaṃ vedeti, sukhino cittaṃ samādhiyati. Idaṃ paṭhamaṃ vimuttāyatanaṃ.

“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu yāyaṃ diṭṭhi ariyā niyyānikā niyyāti takkarassa sammā dukkhakkhayāya, tathārūpāya diṭṭhiyā diṭṭhisāmaññagato viharati sabrahmacārīhi āvi ceva raho ca. Ayampi dhammo sāraṇīyo piyakaraṇo garukaraṇo saṅgahāya avivādāya sāmaggiyā ekībhāvāya saṃvattati.
325. Cha vivādamūlāni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu kodhano hoti upanāhī. Yo so, āvuso, bhikkhu kodhano hoti upanāhī, so sattharipi agāravo viharati appatisso, dhammepi agāravo viharati appatisso, saṅghepi agāravo viharati appatisso, sikkhāyapi na paripūrakārī hoti. Yo so, āvuso, bhikkhu satthari agāravo viharati appatisso, dhamme agāravo viharati appatisso, saṅghe agāravo viharati appatisso, sikkhāya na paripūrakārī, so saṅghe vivādaṃ janeti. Yo hoti vivādo bahujana-ahitāya bahujana-asukhāya anatthāya ahitāya dukkhāya devamanussānaṃ. Evarūpaṃ ce tumhe, āvuso, vivādamūlaṃ ajjhattaṃ vā bahiddhā vā samanupasseyyātha. Tatra tumhe, āvuso, tasseva pāpakassa vivādamūlassa pahānāya vāyameyyātha. Evarūpaṃ ce tumhe, āvuso, vivādamūlaṃ ajjhattaṃ vā bahiddhā vā na samanupasseyyātha. Tatra tumhe, āvuso, tasseva pāpakassa vivādamūlassa āyatiṃ anavassavāya paṭipajjeyyātha. Evametassa pāpakassa vivādamūlassa pahānaṃ hoti. Evametassa pāpakassa vivādamūlassa āyatiṃ anavassavo hoti.

“Cha dhātuyo pathavīdhātu, āpodhātu, tejodhātu, vāyodhātu, ākāsadhātu, viññāṇadhātu.
326. “Cha nissaraṇiyā dhātuyo. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu evaṃ vadeyya– ‘mettā hi kho me cetovimutti bhāvitā bahulīkatā yānīkatā vatthukatā anuṭṭhitā paricitā susamāraddhā, atha ca pana me byāpādo cittaṃ pariyādāya tiṭṭhatī’ti. So ‘mā hevaṃ’, tissa vacanīyo, ‘māyasmā evaṃ avaca, mā bhagavantaṃ abbhācikkhi, na hi sādhu bhagavato abbhakkhānaṃ, na hi bhagavā evaṃ vadeyya. Aṭṭhānametaṃ, āvuso, anavakāso, yaṃ mettāya cetovimuttiyā bhāvitāya bahulīkatāya yānīkatāya vatthukatāya anuṭṭhitāya paricitāya susamāraddhāya. Atha ca panassa byāpādo cittaṃ pariyādāya ṭhassati, netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati. Nissaraṇaṃ hetaṃ, āvuso, byāpādassa, yadidaṃ mettā cetovimuttī’ti.

“Idha panāvuso, bhikkhu evaṃ vadeyya– ‘muditā hi kho me cetovimutti bhāvitā bahulīkatā yānīkatā vatthukatā anuṭṭhitā paricitā susamāraddhā. Atha ca pana me arati cittaṃ pariyādāya tiṭṭhatī’ti, so ‘mā hevaṃ’ tissa vacanīyo “māyasmā evaṃ avaca, mā bhagavantaṃ abbhācikkhi, na hi sādhu bhagavato abbhakkhānaṃ, na hi bhagavā evaṃ vadeyya. Aṭṭhānametaṃ, āvuso, anavakāso, yaṃ muditāya cetovimuttiyā bhāvitāya bahulīkatāya yānīkatāya vatthukatāya anuṭṭhitāya paricitāya susamāraddhāya, atha ca panassa arati cittaṃ pariyādāya ṭhassati, netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati. Nissaraṇaṃ hetaṃ, āvuso, aratiyā, yadidaṃ muditā cetovimuttī’ti.
“Idha panāvuso, bhikkhu evaṃ vadeyya– ‘upekkhā hi kho me cetovimutti bhāvitā bahulīkatā yānīkatā vatthukatā anuṭṭhitā paricitā susamāraddhā. Atha ca pana me rāgo cittaṃ pariyādāya tiṭṭhatī’ti. So ‘mā hevaṃ’ tissa vacanīyo ‘māyasmā evaṃ avaca, mā bhagavantaṃ abbhācikkhi, na hi sādhu bhagavato abbhakkhānaṃ, na hi bhagavā evaṃ vadeyya. Aṭṭhānametaṃ, āvuso, anavakāso, yaṃ upekkhāya cetovimuttiyā bhāvitāya bahulīkatāya yānīkatāya vatthukatāya anuṭṭhitāya paricitāya susamāraddhāya, atha ca panassa rāgo cittaṃ pariyādāya ṭhassati netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati. Nissaraṇaṃ hetaṃ, āvuso, rāgassa, yadidaṃ upekkhā cetovimuttī’ti.
“Idha panāvuso, bhikkhu evaṃ vadeyya– ‘animittā hi kho me cetovimutti bhāvitā bahulīkatā yānīkatā vatthukatā anuṭṭhitā paricitā susamāraddhā. Atha ca pana me nimittānusāri viññāṇaṃ hotī’ti. So ‘mā hevaṃ’ tissa vacanīyo ‘māyasmā evaṃ avaca, mā bhagavantaṃ abbhācikkhi, na hi sādhu bhagavato abbhakkhānaṃ, na hi bhagavā evaṃ vadeyya. Aṭṭhānametaṃ, āvuso, anavakāso, yaṃ animittāya cetovimuttiyā bhāvitāya bahulīkatāya yānīkatāya vatthukatāya anuṭṭhitāya paricitāya susamāraddhāya, atha ca panassa nimittānusāri viññāṇaṃ bhavissati, netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati. Nissaraṇaṃ hetaṃ, āvuso, sabbanimittānaṃ, yadidaṃ animittā cetovimuttī’ti.
“Idha panāvuso, bhikkhu evaṃ vadeyya– ‘asmīti kho me vigataṃ, ayamahamasmīti na samanupassāmi, atha ca pana me vicikicchākathaṅkathāsallaṃ cittaṃ pariyādāya tiṭṭhatī’ti. So ‘mā hevaṃ’ tissa vacanīyo ‘māyasmā evaṃ avaca, mā bhagavantaṃ abbhācikkhi, na hi sādhu bhagavato abbhakkhānaṃ, na hi bhagavā evaṃ vadeyya. Aṭṭhānametaṃ, āvuso, anavakāso, yaṃ asmīti vigate ayamahamasmīti asamanupassato, atha ca panassa vicikicchākathaṅkathāsallaṃ cittaṃ pariyādāya ṭhassati, netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati. Nissaraṇaṃ hetaṃ, āvuso, vicikicchākathaṅkathāsallassa, yadidaṃ asmimānasamugghāto’ti.
327. “Cha anuttariyāni– dassanānuttariyaṃ, savanānuttariyaṃ, lābhānuttariyaṃ, sikkhānuttariyaṃ, pāricariyānuttariyaṃ, anussatānuttariyaṃ.
“Cha anussatiṭṭhānāni buddhānussati, dhammānussati, saṅghānussati, sīlānussati, cāgānussati, devatānussati.
328. “Cha satatavihārā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu cakkhunā rūpaṃ disvā neva sumano hoti na dummano, upekkhako viharati sato sampajāno. Sotena saddaṃ sutvā …pe… manasā dhammaṃ viññāya neva sumano hoti na dummano, upekkhako viharati sato sampajāno.
329. “Chaḷābhijātiyo. Idhāvuso, ekacco kaṇhābhijātiko samāno kaṇhaṃ dhammaṃ abhijāyati. Idha panāvuso, ekacco kaṇhābhijātiko samāno sukkaṃ dhammaṃ abhijāyati. Idha panāvuso, ekacco kaṇhābhijātiko samāno akaṇhaṃ asukkaṃ nibbānaṃ abhijāyati. Idha panāvuso, ekacco sukkābhijātiko samāno sukkaṃ dhammaṃ abhijāyati. Idha panāvuso, ekacco sukkābhijātiko samāno kaṇhaṃ dhammaṃ abhijāyati. Idha panāvuso, ekacco sukkābhijātiko samāno akaṇhaṃ asukkaṃ nibbānaṃ abhijāyati.
“Cha nibbedhabhāgiyā saññā – aniccasaññā anicce, dukkhasaññā dukkhe, anattasaññā, pahānasaññā, virāgasaññā, nirodhasaññā.

“Satta ariyadhanāni– saddhādhanaṃ, sīladhanaṃ, hiridhanaṃ, ottappadhanaṃ, sutadhanaṃ, cāgadhanaṃ, paññādhanaṃ.
“Satta bojjhaṅgā– satisambojjhaṅgo, dhammavicayasambojjhaṅgo vīriyasambojjhaṅgo, pītisambojjhaṅgo, passaddhisambojjhaṅgo, samādhisambojjhaṅgo, upekkhāsambojjhaṅgo.
“Satta samādhiparikkhārā– sammādiṭṭhi, sammāsaṅkappo, sammāvācā, sammākammanto, sammā-ājīvo, sammāvāyāmo, sammāsati.

“Satta saddhammā– idhāvuso, bhikkhu saddho hoti, hirimā hoti, ottappī hoti, bahussuto hoti, āraddhavīriyo hoti, upaṭṭhitassati hoti, paññavā hoti.
“Satta sappurisadhammā– idhāvuso, bhikkhu dhammaññū ca hoti atthaññū ca attaññū ca mattaññū ca kālaññū ca parisaññū ca puggalaññū ca.
331. “Satta niddasavatthūni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu sikkhāsamādāne tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca sikkhāsamādāne avigatapemo. Dhammanisantiyā tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca dhammanisantiyā avigatapemo. Icchāvinaye tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca icchāvinaye avigatapemo. Paṭisallāne tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca paṭisallāne avigatapemo. Vīriyārambhe tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca vīriyārambhe avigatapemo. Satinepakke tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca satinepakke avigatapemo Diṭṭhipaṭivedhe tibbacchando hoti, āyatiñca diṭṭhipaṭivedhe avigatapemo.
“Satta saññā– aniccasaññā, anattasaññā, asubhasaññā, ādīnavasaññā, pahānasaññā, virāgasaññā, nirodhasaññā.
“Satta balāni– saddhābalaṃ, vīriyabalaṃ, hiribalaṃ, ottappabalaṃ, satibalaṃ, samādhibalaṃ, paññābalaṃ.
332. “Satta viññāṇaṭṭhitiyo. Santāvuso, sattā nānattakāyā nānattasaññino, seyyathāpi manussā ekacce ca devā ekacce ca vinipātikā. Ayaṃ paṭhamā viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
“Santāvuso, sattā nānattakāyā ekattasaññino seyyathāpi devā brahmakāyikā paṭhamābhinibbattā. Ayaṃ dutiyā viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
“Santāvuso, sattā ekattakāyā nānattasaññino seyyathāpi devā ābhassarā. Ayaṃ tatiyā viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
“Santāvuso, sattā ekattakāyā ekattasaññino seyyathāpi devā subhakiṇhā. Ayaṃ catutthī viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
“Santāvuso, sattā sabbaso rūpasaññānaṃ samatikkamā paṭighasaññānaṃ atthaṅgamā nānattasaññānaṃ amanasikārā ‘ananto ākāso’ti ākāsānañcāyatanūpagā. Ayaṃ pañcamī viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
“Santāvuso, sattā sabbaso ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘anantaṃ viññāṇan’ti viññāṇañcāyatanūpagā. Ayaṃ chaṭṭhī viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
“Santāvuso sattā sabbaso viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ samatikkamma ‘natthi kiñcī’ti ākiñcaññāyatanūpagā. Ayaṃ sattamī viññāṇaṭṭhiti.
“Satta puggalā dakkhiṇeyyā– ubhatobhāgavimutto paññāvimutto, kāyasakkhi, diṭṭhippatto, saddhāvimutto, dhammānusārī, saddhānusārī.
“Satta anusayā– kāmarāgānusayo, paṭighānusayo, diṭṭhānusayo, vicikicchānusayo, mānānusayo, bhavarāgānusayo, avijjānusayo.
“Satta saññojanāni– anunayasaññojanaṃ, paṭighasaññojanaṃ, diṭṭhisaññojanaṃ, vicikicchāsaññojanaṃ, mānasaññojanaṃ, bhavarāgasaññojanaṃ, avijjāsaññojanaṃ.
“Satta adhikaraṇasamathā– uppannuppannānaṃ adhikaraṇānaṃ samathāya vūpasamāya sammukhāvinayo dātabbo, sativinayo dātabbo, amūḷhavinayo dātabbo, paṭiññāya kāretabbaṃ, yebhuyyasikā, tassapāpiyasikā, tiṇavatthārako.
“Ime kho, āvuso, tena bhagavatā jānatā passatā arahatā sammāsambuddhena satta dhammā sammadakkhātā; tattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ …pe… atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṃ.

“Aṭṭha puggalā dakkhiṇeyyā– sotāpanno, sotāpattiphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno; sakadāgāmī, sakadāgāmiphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno; anāgāmī, anāgāmiphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno; arahā, arahattaphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno.
334. “Aṭṭha kusītavatthūni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhunā kammaṃ kātabbaṃ hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘kammaṃ kho me kātabbaṃ bhavissati, kammaṃ kho pana me karontassa kāyo kilamissati, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati appattassa pattiyā anadhigatassa adhigamāya asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāya. Idaṃ paṭhamaṃ kusītavatthu.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhunā kammaṃ kataṃ hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho kammaṃ akāsiṃ, kammaṃ kho pana me karontassa kāyo kilanto, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati …pe… idaṃ dutiyaṃ kusītavatthu.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhunā maggo gantabbo hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘maggo kho me gantabbo bhavissati, maggaṃ kho pana me gacchantassa kāyo kilamissati, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ tatiyaṃ kusītavatthu.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhunā maggo gato hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho maggaṃ agamāsiṃ, maggaṃ kho pana me gacchantassa kāyo kilanto, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ catutthaṃ kusītavatthu.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu gāmaṃ vā nigamaṃ vā piṇḍāya caranto na labhati lūkhassa vā paṇītassa vā bhojanassa yāvadatthaṃ pāripūriṃ. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho gāmaṃ vā nigamaṃ vā piṇḍāya caranto nālatthaṃ lūkhassa vā paṇītassa vā bhojanassa yāvadatthaṃ pāripūriṃ, tassa me kāyo kilanto akammañño, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ pañcamaṃ kusītavatthu.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu gāmaṃ vā nigamaṃ vā piṇḍāya caranto labhati lūkhassa vā paṇītassa vā bhojanassa yāvadatthaṃ pāripūriṃ. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho gāmaṃ vā nigamaṃ vā piṇḍāya caranto alatthaṃ lūkhassa vā paṇītassa vā bhojanassa yāvadatthaṃ pāripūriṃ, tassa me kāyo garuko akammañño, māsācitaṃ maññe handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ chaṭṭhaṃ kusītavatthu.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhuno uppanno hoti appamattako ābādho. Tassa evaṃ hoti ‘uppanno kho me ayaṃ appamattako ābādho; atthi kappo nipajjituṃ, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ sattamaṃ kusītavatthu.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu gilānā vuṭṭhito hoti aciravuṭṭhito gelaññā. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho gilānā vuṭṭhito aciravuṭṭhito gelaññā, tassa me kāyo dubbalo akammañño, handāhaṃ nipajjāmī’ti! So nipajjati na vīriyaṃ ārabhati appattassa pattiyā anadhigatassa adhigamāya asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāya. Idaṃ aṭṭhamaṃ kusītavatthu.
335. “Aṭṭha ārambhavatthūni. Idhāvuso, bhikkhunā kammaṃ kātabbaṃ hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘kammaṃ kho me kātabbaṃ bhavissati, kammaṃ kho pana me karontena na sukaraṃ buddhānaṃ sāsanaṃ manasi kātuṃ, handāhaṃ vīriyaṃ ārabhāmi appattassa pattiyā anadhigatassa adhigamāya, asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāyā’ti! So vīriyaṃ ārabhati appattassa pattiyā, anadhigatassa adhigamāya asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāya. Idaṃ paṭhamaṃ ārambhavatthu.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhunā kammaṃ kataṃ hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho kammaṃ akāsiṃ, kammaṃ kho panāhaṃ karonto nāsakkhiṃ buddhānaṃ sāsanaṃ manasi kātuṃ, handāhaṃ vīriyaṃ ārabhāmi …pe… so vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ dutiyaṃ ārambhavatthu.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhunā maggo gantabbo hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘maggo kho me gantabbo bhavissati, maggaṃ kho pana me gacchantena na sukaraṃ buddhānaṃ sāsanaṃ manasi kātuṃ. Handāhaṃ vīriyaṃ ārabhāmi …pe… so vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ tatiyaṃ ārambhavatthu.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhunā maggo gato hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho maggaṃ agamāsiṃ, maggaṃ kho panāhaṃ gacchanto nāsakkhiṃ buddhānaṃ sāsanaṃ manasi kātuṃ, handāhaṃ vīriyaṃ ārabhāmi …pe… so vīriyaṃ ārabhati… idaṃ catutthaṃ ārambhavatthu.

Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘ahaṃ kho gilānā vuṭṭhito aciravuṭṭhito gelaññā, ṭhānaṃ kho panetaṃ vijjati yaṃ me ābādho paccudāvatteyya, handāhaṃ vīriyaṃ ārabhāmi appattassa pattiyā anadhigatassa adhigamāya asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāyā”ti! So vīriyaṃ ārabhati appattassa pattiyā anadhigatassa adhigamāya asacchikatassa sacchikiriyāya. Idaṃ aṭṭhamaṃ ārambhavatthu.
336. “Aṭṭha dānavatthūni. Āsajja dānaṃ deti, bhayā dānaṃ deti, ‘adāsi me’ti dānaṃ deti, ‘dassati me’ti dānaṃ deti, ‘sāhu dānan’ti dānaṃ deti, ‘ahaṃ pacāmi, ime na pacanti, nārahāmi pacanto apacantānaṃ dānaṃ na dātun’ti dānaṃ deti, ‘idaṃ me dānaṃ dadato kalyāṇo kittisaddo abbhuggacchatī’ti dānaṃ deti. Cittālaṅkāra-cittaparikkhāratthaṃ dānaṃ deti.
337. “Aṭṭha dānūpapattiyo. Idhāvuso, ekacco dānaṃ deti samaṇassa vā brāhmaṇassa vā annaṃ pānaṃ vatthaṃ yānaṃ mālāgandhavilepanaṃ seyyāvasathapadīpeyyaṃ. So yaṃ deti taṃ paccāsīsati. So passati khattiyamahāsālaṃ vā brāhmaṇamahāsālaṃ vā gahapatimahāsālaṃ vā pañcahi kāmaguṇehi samappitaṃ samaṅgībhūtaṃ paricārayamānaṃ. Tassa evaṃ hoti– ‘aho vatāhaṃ kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā khattiyamahāsālānaṃ vā brāhmaṇamahāsālānaṃ vā gahapatimahāsālānaṃ vā sahabyataṃ upapajjeyyan’ti! 338. “Aṭṭha abhibhāyatanāni. Ajjhattaṃ rūpasaññī eko bahiddhā rūpāni passati parittāni suvaṇṇadubbaṇṇāni, ‘tāni abhibhuyya jānāmi passāmī’ti evaṃsaññī hoti. Idaṃ paṭhamaṃ abhibhāyatanaṃ.

“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, tathāgato ca loke uppanno hoti arahaṃ sammāsambuddho, dhammo ca desiyati opasamiko parinibbāniko sambodhagāmī sugatappavedito. Ayañca puggalo tiracchānayoniṃ upapanno hoti. Ayaṃ dutiyo akkhaṇo asamayo brahmacariyavāsāya.
“Puna caparaṃ …pe… pettivisayaṃ upapanno hoti. Ayaṃ tatiyo akkhaṇo asamayo brahmacariyavāsāya.

So ca hoti micchādiṭṭhiko viparītadassano– ‘natthi dinnaṃ, natthi yiṭṭhaṃ, natthi hutaṃ, natthi sukatadukkaṭānaṃ kammānaṃ phalaṃ vipāko, natthi ayaṃ loko, natthi paro loko, natthi mātā, natthi pitā, natthi sattā opapātikā, natthi loke samaṇabrāhmaṇā sammaggatā sammāpaṭipannā ye imañca lokaṃ parañca lokaṃ sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā pavedentī’ti. “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, tathāgato ca loke na uppanno hoti arahaṃ sammāsambuddho, dhammo ca na desiyati opasamiko parinibbāniko sambodhagāmī sugatappavedito. 343. “Nava anupubbavihārā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu vivicceva kāmehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakkaṃ savicāraṃ vivekajaṃ pītisukhaṃ paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Vitakkavicārānaṃ vūpasamā …pe… dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Pītiyā ca virāgā …pe… tatiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Sukhassa ca pahānā …pe… catutthaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. 344. “Nava anupubbanirodhā. Paṭhamaṃ jhānaṃ samāpannassa kāmasaññā niruddhā hoti. Dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ samāpannassa vitakkavicārā niruddhā honti. Tatiyaṃ jhānaṃ samāpannassa pīti niruddhā hoti. Catutthaṃ jhānaṃ samāpannassa assāsapassāssā niruddhā honti. Ākāsānañcāyatanaṃ samāpannassa rūpasaññā niruddhā hoti. Viññāṇañcāyatanaṃ samāpannassa ākāsānañcāyatanasaññā niruddhā hoti. Ākiñcaññāyatanaṃ samāpannassa viññāṇañcāyatanasaññā niruddhā hoti. Nevasaññānāsaññāyatanaṃ samāpannassa ākiñcaññāyatanasaññā niruddhā hoti. Saññāvedayitanirodhaṃ samāpannassa saññā ca vedanā ca niruddhā honti.

“Dasa nāthakaraṇā dhammā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu sīlavā hoti. Pātimokkhasaṃvarasaṃvuto viharati ācāragocarasampanno, aṇumattesu vajjesu bhayadassāvī samādāya sikkhati sikkhāpadesu. Yaṃpāvuso, bhikkhu sīlavā hoti, pātimokkhasaṃvarasaṃvuto viharati, ācāragocarasampanno, aṇumattesu vajjesu bhayadassāvī samādāya sikkhati sikkhāpadesu. Ayampi dhammo nāthakaraṇo.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu bahussuto hoti sutadharo sutasannicayo. Ye te dhammā ādikalyāṇā majjhekalyāṇā pariyosānakalyāṇā sātthā sabyañjanā kevalaparipuṇṇaṃ parisuddhaṃ brahmacariyaṃ abhivadanti, tathārūpāssa dhammā bahussutā honti dhātā vacasā paricitā manasānupekkhitā diṭṭhiyā suppaṭividdhā, yaṃpāvuso, bhikkhu bahussuto hoti …pe… diṭṭhiyā suppaṭividdhā. “Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu kalyāṇamitto hoti kalyāṇasahāyo kalyāṇasampavaṅko. Yaṃpāvuso, bhikkhu kalyāṇamitto hoti kalyāṇasahāyo kalyāṇasampavaṅko. Ayampi dhammo nāthakaraṇo.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu suvaco hoti sovacassakaraṇehi dhammehi samannāgato khamo padakkhiṇaggāhī anusāsaniṃ. Yaṃpāvuso, bhikkhu suvaco hoti …pe… padakkhiṇaggāhī anusāsaniṃ. Ayampi dhammo nāthakaraṇo.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu yāni tāni sabrahmacārīnaṃ uccāvacāni kiṃkaraṇīyāni, tattha dakkho hoti analaso tatrupāyāya vīmaṃsāya samannāgato, alaṃ kātuṃ alaṃ saṃvidhātuṃ. Yaṃpāvuso, bhikkhu yāni tāni sabrahmacārīnaṃ …pe… alaṃ saṃvidhātuṃ. Ayampi dhammo nāthakaraṇo.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu dhammakāmo hoti piyasamudāhāro, abhidhamme abhivinaye uḷārapāmojjo. Yaṃpāvuso, bhikkhu dhammakāmo hoti …pe… uḷārapāmojjo. Ayampi dhammo nāthakaraṇo.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso bhikkhu santuṭṭho hoti itarītarehi cīvarapiṇḍapātasenāsanagilānappaccayabhesajjaparikkhārehi Yaṃpāvuso, bhikkhu santuṭṭho hoti …pe… parikkhārehi. Ayampi dhammo nāthakaraṇo.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu āraddhavīriyo viharati akusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ pahānāya kusalānaṃ dhammānaṃ upasampadāya, thāmavā daḷhaparakkamo anikkhittadhuro kusalesu dhammesu. Yaṃpāvuso, bhikkhu āraddhavīriyo viharati …pe… anikkhittadhuro kusalesu dhammesu. Ayampi dhammo nāthakaraṇo.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu satimā hoti paramena satinepakkena samannāgato cirakatampi cirabhāsitampi saritā anussaritā. Yaṃpāvuso, bhikkhu satimā hoti …pe… saritā anussaritā. Ayampi dhammo nāthakaraṇo.
“Puna caparaṃ, āvuso, bhikkhu paññavā hoti, udayatthagāminiyā paññāya samannāgato ariyāya nibbedhikāya sammādukkhakkhayagāminiyā. Yaṃpāvuso, bhikkhu paññavā hoti …pe… sammādukkhakkhayagāminiyā. Ayampi dhammo nāthakaraṇo.
346. Dasa kasiṇāyatanāni. Pathavīkasiṇameko sañjānāti, uddhaṃ adho tiriyaṃ advayaṃ appamāṇaṃ. Āpokasiṇameko sañjānāti …pe… tejokasiṇameko sañjānāti… vāyokasiṇameko sañjānāti… nīlakasiṇameko sañjānāti… pītakasiṇameko sañjānāti… lohitakasiṇameko sañjānāti… odātakasiṇameko sañjānāti… ākāsakasiṇameko sañjānāti… viññāṇakasiṇameko sañjānāti, uddhaṃ adho tiriyaṃ advayaṃ appamāṇaṃ.
347. “Dasa akusalakammapathā– pāṇātipāto, adinnādānaṃ, kāmesumicchācāro, musāvādo, pisuṇā vācā, pharusā vācā, samphappalāpo, abhijjhā, byāpādo, micchādiṭṭhi.
“Dasa kusalakammapathā– pāṇātipātā veramaṇī, adinnādānā veramaṇī, kāmesumicchācārā veramaṇī, musāvādā veramaṇī, pisuṇāya vācāya veramaṇī, pharusāya vācāya veramaṇī, samphappalāpā veramaṇī, anabhijjhā, abyāpādo, sammādiṭṭhi.
348. “Dasa ariyavāsā. Idhāvuso, bhikkhu pañcaṅgavippahīno hoti, chaḷaṅgasamannāgato, ekārakkho, caturāpasseno, paṇunnapaccekasacco, samavayasaṭṭhesano, anāvilasaṅkappo, passaddhakāyasaṅkhāro, suvimuttacitto, suvimuttapañño.
“Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu pañcaṅgavippahīno hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno kāmacchando pahīno hoti, byāpādo pahīno hoti, thinamiddhaṃ pahīnaṃ hoti, uddhaccakukuccaṃ pahīnaṃ hoti, vicikicchā pahīnā hoti. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu pañcaṅgavippahīno hoti.
“Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu chaḷaṅgasamannāgato hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu cakkhunā rūpaṃ disvā neva sumano hoti na dummano, upekkhako viharati sato sampajāno. Sotena saddaṃ sutvā …pe… manasā dhammaṃ viññāya neva sumano hoti na dummano, upekkhako viharati sato sampajāno. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu chaḷaṅgasamannāgato hoti.
“Kathañcāvuso bhikkhu ekārakkho hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu satārakkhena cetasā samannāgato hoti. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu ekārakkho hoti
“Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu caturāpasseno hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu saṅkhāyekaṃ paṭisevati, saṅkhāyekaṃ adhivāseti, saṅkhāyekaṃ parivajjeti, saṅkhāyekaṃ vinodeti. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu caturāpasseno hoti.
“Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu paṇunnapaccekasacco hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno yāni tāni puthusamaṇabrāhmaṇānaṃ puthupaccekasaccāni, sabbāni tāni nunnāni honti paṇunnāni cattāni vantāni muttāni pahīnāni paṭinissaṭṭhāni. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu paṇunnapaccekasacco hoti.
“Kathañcāvuso bhikkhu samavayasaṭṭhesano hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno kāmesanā pahīnā hoti, bhavesanā pahīnā hoti, brahmacariyesanā paṭippassaddhā. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu samavayasaṭṭhesano hoti.
“Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu anāvilasaṅkappo hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno kāmasaṅkappo pahīno hoti, byāpādasaṅkappo pahīno hoti, vihiṃsāsaṅkappo pahīno hoti. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu anāvilasaṅkappo hoti.
“Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu passaddhakāyasaṅkhāro hoti Idhāvuso, bhikkhu sukhassa ca pahānā dukkhassa ca pahānā pubbeva somanassadomanassānaṃ atthaṅgamā adukkhamasukhaṃ upekkhāsatipārisuddhiṃ catutthaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu passaddhakāyasaṅkhāro hoti.
“Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu suvimuttacitto hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhuno rāgā cittaṃ vimuttaṃ hoti, dosā cittaṃ vimuttaṃ hoti, mohā cittaṃ vimuttaṃ hoti. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu suvimuttacitto hoti.
“Kathañcāvuso, bhikkhu suvimuttapañño hoti? Idhāvuso, bhikkhu ‘rāgo me pahīno ucchinnamūlo tālāvatthukato anabhāvaṃkato āyatiṃ anuppādadhammo’ti pajānāti. ‘Doso me pahīno ucchinnamūlo tālāvatthukato anabhāvaṃkato āyatiṃ anuppādadhammo’ti pajānāti. ‘Moho me pahīno ucchinnamūlo tālāvatthukato anabhāvaṃkato āyatiṃ anuppādadhammo’ti pajānāti. Evaṃ kho, āvuso, bhikkhu suvimuttapañño hoti.
“Dasa asekkhā dhammā– asekkhā sammādiṭṭhi, asekkho sammāsaṅkappo, asekkhā sammāvācā, asekkho sammākammanto, asekkho sammā-ājīvo, asekkho sammāvāyāmo, asekkhā sammāsati, asekkho sammāsamādhi, asekkhaṃ sammāñāṇaṃ, asekkhā sammāvimutti.
“Ime kho, āvuso, tena bhagavatā jānatā passatā arahatā sammāsambuddhena dasa dhammā sammadakkhātā. Tattha sabbeheva saṅgāyitabbaṃ na vivaditabbaṃ, yathayidaṃ brahmacariyaṃ addhaniyaṃ assa ciraṭṭhitikaṃ, tadassa bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānan”ti.
349. Atha kho bhagavā uṭṭhahitvā āyasmantaṃ sāriputtaṃ āmantesi– ‘sādhu sādhu, sāriputta, sādhu kho tvaṃ, sāriputta, bhikkhūnaṃ saṅgītipariyāyaṃ abhāsī’ti. Idamavocāyasmā sāriputto, samanuñño satthā ahosi. Attamanā te bhikkhū āyasmato sāriputtassa bhāsitaṃ abhinandunti.
