这是我亲身听闻到的:一时,世尊住在舍卫城祇树给孤独园。在那里,世尊呼唤比丘们说:"诸比丘。"那些比丘回答说:"世尊。"世尊说道:"诸比丘,我将为你们讲说行生,请谛听,善思作意,我将说法。"那些比丘回答说:"是的,世尊。"世尊如是说:
"在此,诸比丘,比丘具足信仰,具足戒行,具足闻法,具足布施,具足智慧。他这样想:'啊,但愿我身坏命终后,能往生到刹帝利大富豪家中(刹帝利解释:意译地主、王种。略作刹利。乃印度四姓阶级中之第二阶级,地位仅次于婆罗门,乃王族、贵族、士族所属之阶级,系从事军事、政治者。释尊即出身此阶级)。'他专注于此心,确立此心,修习此心。他的这些行为和生活方式,如是修习,如是多修习,导致往生到那里。诸比丘,这是导致往生到那里的道路,这是导致往生到那里的行道。
"复次,诸比丘,比丘具足信仰,具足戒行,具足闻法,具足布施,具足智慧。他这样想:'啊,但愿我身坏命终后,能往生到婆罗门大富豪家中(婆罗门解释:意译净行、梵行、梵志、承习。印度四姓中,最上位之僧侣、学者阶级。为古印度一切知识之垄断者,自认为印度社会之最胜种姓)……居士大富豪家中(居士解释:没有出家,在家修行的人)。'他专注于此心,确立此心,修习此心。他的这些行为和生活方式,如是修习,如是多修习,导致往生到那里。诸比丘,这是导致往生到那里的道路,这是导致往生到那里的行道。
"复次,诸比丘,比丘具足信仰,具足戒行,具足闻法,具足布施,具足智慧。他听闻:'四大王天神长寿,容貌殊胜,多享快乐。'他这样想:'啊,但愿我身坏命终后,能往生到四大王天。'他专注于此心,确立此心,修习此心。他的这些行为和生活方式,如是修习,如是多修习,导致往生到那里。诸比丘,这是导致往生到那里的道路,这是导致往生到那里的行道。

"复次,诸比丘,比丘具足信仰,具足戒行,具足闻法,具足布施,具足智慧。他听闻:'二千世界梵天……三千世界梵天……四千世界梵天……五千世界梵天长寿,容貌殊胜,多享快乐。'五千世界梵天遍满五千世界而住。凡是往生到那里的众生,他也遍满而住。诸比丘,就像有眼之人将五颗庵罗果放在手中观察;同样地,诸比丘,五千世界梵天遍满五千世界而住。凡是往生到那里的众生,他也遍满而住。他这样想:'啊,但愿我身坏命终后,能往生到五千世界梵天。'他专注于此心,确立此心,修习此心。他的这些行为和生活方式,如是修习,如是多修习,导致往生到那里。诸比丘,这是导致往生到那里的道路,这是导致往生到那里的行道。
"复次,诸比丘,比丘具足信仰,具足戒行,具足闻法,具足布施,具足智慧。他听闻:'十千世界梵天长寿,容貌殊胜,多享快乐。'十千世界梵天遍满十千世界而住。凡是往生到那里的众生,他也遍满而住。诸比丘,就像纯净、优质的琉璃宝石,八面切割,精心加工,放在淡黄色毛毡上,闪耀光明,放射光芒,发出光辉;同样地,诸比丘,十千世界梵天遍满十千世界而住。凡是往生到那里的众生,他也遍满而住。他这样想:'啊,但愿我身坏命终后,能往生到十千世界梵天。'他专注于此心,确立此心,修习此心。他的这些行为和生活方式,如是修习,如是多修习,导致往生到那里。诸比丘,这是导致往生到那里的道路,这是导致往生到那里的行道。

世尊说完此经后,那些比丘欢喜信受世尊所说。

Tassa te saṅkhārā ca vihārā ca evaṃ bhāvitā evaṃ bahulīkatā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattanti. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, maggo ayaṃ paṭipadā tatrupapattiyā saṃvattati.
175. “Puna caparaṃ, bhikkhave, bhikkhu saddhāya samannāgato hoti, sīlena… sutena… cāgena… paññāya samannāgato hoti. Tassa evaṃ hoti ‘aho vatāhaṃ āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ cetovimuttiṃ paññāvimuttiṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja vihareyyan’ti. So āsavānaṃ khayā anāsavaṃ cetovimuttiṃ paññāvimuttiṃ diṭṭheva dhamme sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā upasampajja viharati. Ayaṃ, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na katthaci upapajjatī”ti.
Idamavoca bhagavā. Attamanā te bhikkhū bhagavato bhāsitaṃ abhinandunti.
Saṅkhārupapattisuttaṃ niṭṭhitaṃ dasamaṃ.
Anupadavaggo niṭṭhito dutiyo.
Tassuddānaṃ–
Anupāda-sodhana-porisadhammo, sevitabba-bahudhātu-vibhatti.
Buddhassa kittināma-cattārīsena, ānāpāno kāyagato upapatti.
